Have a PE in Petroleum. Been a bit busy this year and do not have any CEU's (need 14+1hr ethics). Also have a full plate of projects to knock out this month so can't sit in a class.

Any recommendations for 100% only hours? Have googled, narrowed down list, just curious if anyone has experience to use/steer clear etc.

Might be dumb question - but I think they spec "hours" not units. What's the difference?

CRE does some different 1.5 day environmental courses with ethics. They are geared a bit more towards environmental and legal types but may work. They aren't cheap though since law firms pay for them.

Here's your chance at the ethics.

Also document your stuff, I know they audit PDHs so you don't want to screw up there.

If you are an SPE member you have access to tons of free online hours/credits. I typically do the "on demand" options so I can schedule at my convenience (I.e., slow days at work) and they provide the PDH/CEU certificates for download for your files.

Anyone know if the required trainings/ certifications every year would count?

Know a handful of folks who have been audited.

"Read" the Practice Act and it will cover your ethics hour. If you just need hours in a hurry, try ez-pdh.com. You can get packages for different states, to include the ethics hour. Used them for several years for several states. Quiz answers are mostly searchable in the pdf study material if you just want to fly through it.

Yes. PDHs requirements can vary by state. Colorado doesn't require any.

Ez-pdh and similar sites are at your own pace. You pay for the certificate, not the class or reference materials. Once you pass the course exam, you pay and then receive a pdf of the cert. Pretty user friendly.

PDH are easy. Presumibly you've had some sort of training or seminars thought the year you can use. If not, you can self study also. Pull up a youtube recording of an hour long engineering ethics lecture from a college. Read some industry white papers or watch a webinar. Listen to some revant podcasts or an audio book while you drive to and from work. You should be able to knock out 15 hours between 9/28 and 9/30.

I have been audited and most of it was internal company training that I only had certificates or powerpoint slides for about half. Having a good log of your trainings activities is key. Mark date, topic, instructor, provide a link if online and the number of hours the activity was.

This! I was audited once and every one of my PDH credits were intercompany. I included leading some "meetings" or trainings, a couple of our on line learnings, and some seminars. Read the definition as it is open for quite a few options that might surprise you. Back in the day an older PE reminded me that he learned something every day. I took that to heart as I am still learning and use that in your documentation.

Good luck!
