Howdy!

I'm a lawyer in Oklahoma, and I'm trying to help a friend out who is a former judge (lost his election) who is interested in moving to Texas. He's a hard worker, super smart, and wants to work his ass off.

Anyone hiring for a position that needs someone who is a willing worker with a law degree? Does not need to be legal. Honestly, he would prefer something outside of the legal field.

Has he considered doing mediations? Being a former judge will help his credibility there. He'd have to take a course to get certified but they're relatively cheap and easy.

If he's a little burnt out on the law, it's a nice middle ground in that he won't have any Client's directly and is there to be a problem solver.

Why would a judge want to join an industry where you make the most money screwing over the customer?

Sorry. I just hate the industry.

It'll be gone in the next 7-10 years as they're no longer necessary.

If he considers doing it, he can likely leverage his work network back in Oklahoma too by doing Zoom mediations. I assume they're allowed there. Tons of attorneys doing them like that here in Texas.

Bonus of Zoom is you can do it from home office and keep overhead and costs down while he figures out what he wants to do next.
