Are any of you guys familiar with Deloitte Corporate Finance? They are recruiting a Summer Analyst for Houston. I know Deloitte offers a wide array of services, but I didn't know they had a hand in investment banking. What kind of reputation do they have in the industry? Thanks

I am guessing they do financial due diligence type work, not traditional investment banking. Quality of earnings type work.

I'm at a good to very good bulge bracket bank. I agree fees matter, but I was just saying its not always the best indicator of which bank an analyst should go to. From my perspective, it seems that the top analysts want to go to BarCap, CS, and some Citi (hurt by how large the classes are).

I believe all Big 4 has an investment banking group usually under the "Corporate Finance" name.

I did a quick google search and found this, maybe some useful info here

NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK. When you are done, network some more. Reach out to people in the Aggie Network at some of these banks. Drive to Houston or Dallas one Friday a month and take someone to coffee or lunch to get your name out there.
OP, I'm just going to interject here. This is the bestadvice on this thread, and by your responses, it seems you might have missed it. I'm only assuming this because you have made a few comments to the effect
of "I will get my resume on file with..." Getting a job, or internship, is about persistence and knowing people. Networking now, with social media likeLinkedIn, is insanely easy. Find peopleat the company you want to, see if you have a connection, if not, just reach out to them directly and ask if you can come meet them for 15 minutes. Offer to bring them their favorite coffeefrom Starbucks in their office. Ask them some questions FIRST about themselves, then some GOOD questions about the industry, and for advice for getting into it. Those questions will naturally parlay to a discussion on your job search.

Be bold, be memorable, and keep trying. I wish someone had told me this when I was in your shoes.

BarCap and Citi were the top 2 that I listed... so I guess we just differ on CS?

CS is a top bank, but they are not a top 5 fee generator. I agree that they place well and are also a very strong place for analysts to land. You will get no argument from me there.

Fightin16,

Have you checked out Prudential Capital in Dallas? My girlfriend is a Senior Analyst in the Energy Group.

I know it's not necessarily I-Banking but they hire plenty of Aggies in the O&G subgroup within Energy.

I have applied for the internship position at Prudential. I believe they already held on campus interviews.

Thank you to everybody for the advice. I will definitely keep those rankings in mind when applying to banks.
