I am an Industrial Distribution major graduating this May. I have been offered jobs by both companies listed in the title. I am curious what y'all think of these companies, good and bad. Thanks and Gig Em!

...sales development?

I am assuming that means outside sales in yesterday's world.

Schneider is a large French company that sometimes can not get out of their own way. Depending on what part you are "sales developing", gear, automation and control, industrial control, have, etc., you will notice they are a leader in they industry. The gear will always be called SquareD and that is where most of their bread and butter is at. On the automation piece Schneider electric is a decent name. This will depend on what part of the country you are in. Schneider thanks they are the next Rockwell Automation. They aren't. I have heard from friends that they pay well and that bonuses have been there. You will be pretty free to work your own hours. Company car, phone, and other perks are awesome.

Eaton has always been a very good organization. They jus bought cooper power systems and that seems to have been a very good move for them. Eaton seems to move much faster when their customers need help. Should be a competitive salary as well as benefits package.

In five years move into distribution and work for a wholesaler. The money is better...IMO. They both are good names in electrical equipment. I am partial to Squared and Schneider Electric because they seem to maintain the channel a little better. They also make superior gear.

If the money is close I would choose Square D.

i would say schneider and focus on the industrial side of the business. More money and challenges in industrial than commercial.

Schneider also just bought Invensys Operations Mgmt so there is another possible route if you decide to go industrial.
