A lot of my friends have internships ranging from no pay upwards to $30 bucks an hour.

I know it depends greatly on major, gpa, and connections, but I'm just curious what interns in different fields get paid.

For example, accountants at big 4 I hear get around 20+
Petroleum engineer I know is pulling in $23 for his

$23 is on low end for PETE

Most I have heard of are in $30 to $40 per hour range and a generous housing allowance (depending on where you live).

Big4 in 2010 was $23 but you work 80+ hr weeks and you make time and 1/2. The experience was so valuable though I would do it over for free if I had to.

Signing bonus for the internship too.

my internship in IPM (ento) was minimum wage, and I was grateful for it. I couldn't have afforded it otherwise.

I wish I was making as much as some of you made for your internship for my full-time job. I've got 15 years of experience and can't touch some of those salaries.

My company typically pays our supply chain interns about $25/hr plus whatever your housing cost are.

I think the definition of internship has changed. It sounds like yall are describing entry level jobs with probationary period.

When I interned a long time ago, I was paid zero. Another internship paid room and board.

This is definitely the route my company is taking. There is quite a large generational gap in our workforce and in the whole O&G business in general and we are working to attract top level talent to fill those gaps. So the best way to attract that talent is to pay them a lot of money and hope they come back for more. We probably offer 80-90% of our interns a full-time position once they complete their degree.

$3466/Month... so ~21.66/hour. Agribusiness. However my internship is in the tech industry, in Denver. Which I'd awesome but no housing stipend

My buddies have some internships with legitimate majors and only making ~10/hour.

Is the 23/hr plus time and a half with a bonus pretty standard for Big 4 Accounting Interns? I am applying for PPA this year at Mays and would love to hear more about this internships from any TA'ers that are here.

That's about right (of course it can change due to market conditions). Also, if I'm not mistaken only the MIS track received intern signing bonuses (don't hold me to that, though).

Interns make MUCH more than full time in Big 4 by the way.

Don't get 100% sold on PPA - many of my friends are getting great experience but getting paid 50-60k and working 60-80hr weeks.

Definitely good for internships, but keep your eyes open for other opprotunities for full time. Just my $0.02.
kgc123
How long do you want to ignore this user?
yeah I kinda figured the interns were making more since they are hourly over salary. I have heard you can make less at big 4 than in private, but everyone I have talked to has said big 4 is a good place to work through a few promotions so when you do go private you can leap frog up the ladder better than if you had started private to begin with.

Is it possible to do more than one internship before you graduate?

It is definitely possible. I did one my first summer, took this summer to work in town and will do another next summer
TommyGun
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I had three internships with three different companies each summer. I was also able to intern over one Christmas break. Working 40-60hrs/week and taking night school at a local community college isn't too much fun but it pays off when you're able to graduate on-time with a good level of experience. However, I only did this because I had to pay the bills, it isn't exactly crucial that you have this much experience.

Unpaid and spent several weeks of the summer in the desert room describing the plants and making signs. When I was done with that project I got to work with camps that wanted to learn about nature and art.

If you do PPA do advisory or consulting. You'll get a lot more experience IMO.
