It's common sense/pop psychology/glossed over religion all swept into one steaming pile of dreck.

I think it's great. I teach a motivational course for students who have attendance and behavioral problems and have "borrowed" a lot from Covey.

People who don't like his work or find it too "simplistic": post which of the (now) eight habits you disagree with and cut loose on it.

Well, it's been a week and I'm still waiting for somebody to deconstruct one of the Habits. Just one. Your choice.

"Sharpening the saw is about constantly renewing ourselves in the four basic areas of life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual. It's the habit that increases our capacity to live all other habits of effectiveness."

-- The 8th Habit, page 153

The paradigm here is the whole person. I found out long ago that it's foolish to fall in love with your job, because it will never love you back. Look at Smithers on THE SIMPSONS. All he has in life is an unrequited crush on Mr. Burns and a very large collection of Barbie dolls.
