Ha ha, as far as the job part, give me a year and I'll let ya know.

I find it challenging but incredibly interesting and completely relevant to everything you see going on in the world today. It's a great major to take if you find the methods the Fed uses to fight inflation and other "problems" fascinating. Or how the stock market works. Or why third world countries are where they are and so forth. Alot of graphs, that's for sure. I recommend looking into a textbook and read into it a few chapters. If everything looks Greek to you, it might not be the major for you.

EDIT:

From a scale of 1..10, 1 being easiest, I'd give it a 6 to 6.5. Especially seeing my friends go many sleepless nights as an engineering major whilst I crash on the couch next to them, completely done with whatever project I needed to have done.

Don't look for a major just because its easy. Pick something you like and it will become easy.

If you GPR is < 3.0 you will go into sales as econ
if your GPR is >3.0 but <3.5 you can get some financial job
if your GPR is >3.5 i would suggest going to grad school.

My friend is thinking about going into ECON from general studies, the advisor told him that as long as he graduated with a 3.0 he would have a really good job when he graduated. Hope that helps.

I have an econ degree, and it doesn't really set you up for anthing specific as far a careers. If you do a business minor as well, the additional accounting, finance and management classes will help you a lot in finding a decent first job. I'm currently in freight forwarding and love it. I am the second youngest guy in my department, and youngest with a degree.

My overall GPA was a 3.07 with roughly a 3.25 on my last 60 hours (2.5 years as a bio major killed my GPA). My first job out of college sucked, and when I was looking for other opportunities, I saw how the business minor would have really helped me. I am happy with my degree choice and felt it was a good match for me since I'm very good at algebra and statistics, and can understand theories.

yeah i really wish they would let me be an accounting major, i have a knack for it. alas, blinn team makes that difficult due to the class restrictions and hours i came in with..... is there a way for me to take more accounting classes? i really would like to do somthing with accounting as lame as that sounds

Look into a business minor. Acct 209 for me was pretty hard because the prof (Kratchman) sucked, but 210 was an easy A because the prof could actually teach it. I can't remember her name though.

How does that saying go? If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. The guy's asking for help and you're cutting him down - get a life.

A friend of mine was an Econ major, and he now flies helicopters for the Navy. Hope that helps with the job idea!

stonana, who the hell are you?

I guess you must have designed the Blinn TEAM program because you seem to know EVERYTHING about it. My advisor, Russ Graves, the BLINN TEAM ADVISOR doesn't like the way the program is set up and thinks it is unfair how the program shuts good students out of good majors. so before talking shi*t to people you dont know about situations you dont understand, id suggest you go to hell, t-sip acting bitc*h.

By the way, you don't deserve to be an Aggie.

Good majors? I could have the easiest degree from A&M and have a better life than somebody who has the hardest degree from A&M. It's what you make of it.

Seriously, some of us actually want to be economics majors.

I had a nack for it. I related well to the material and understood it quite easily. Too bad it took me 2.5 years at A&M to realize that.

The school of Economics offers a program that gives you a Business-Economics Certificate. Basically you get rid of some of the economics electives and replace them with non-major intro business classes (acct 209, info 209, etc.) Might wanna look into that.

yeah i imagine id go ahead and do the business minor also, i have most the the courses required done anyways. ACCT 229-230, INFO 210, blah blah

coheed, Acct 209 and 210 are required for an econ degree.

I liked Econ as a major. It really didn't take that much work. No long reading assignments, no huge projects. Lots of free time.

and the BEC doesn't replace any ECON classes with Business classes. You simply take predefined set of ECON classes that are business orientated.

I did too. I don't think I had to do too much work because I was good at it and there were not long reading assignments or large projects (even the project in ECMT Sr year wasn't bad). Others seemed to work a lot, and basically just didn't get it.
RockOn
How long do you want to ignore this user?
By the way, along with the typical ECMT project, there's a senior thesis requirement in 449 or 465 (you choose between the two). 2000 words minimum (i wrote around 3000 words).

I wish they would offer an advanced micro theory class on top of 323. But I guess thats what grad schools for.

I had a few papers to write, but nothing too bad. I did read a lot for my classes though. I enjoyed the topics, so reading the books wasn't all that bad.

Econ is really freaking easy. I'd suggest something else if it's not too late: a hard science, engineering, or business. I don't think the sciences have requirements. So, I'd suggest that. However, I did Econ, and am a financial analyst making good money. I graduated with a 3.5 and am going to law school next year. The Business Certificate - not worth a whole lot on your resume. I'm personally glad I did it, because I worked as a business consultant for an internship. The extra econometric I did was actually really good. I'd HIGHLY recommend doing a B.S. in Econ, getting a minor in business and/or a language, taking the extra econometrics (it's a good class, by a good prof, and it's an easy A), and going for an advanced degree. You do all of that, and you'll get a good job.

Good luck in law school, man! Nothing's more rewarding than knowing your rights and how to defend them. Oh, and the pay is good, of course.
