is your kid Top 10% (auto admit)? if so, then he/she has probably already been accepted and they can check in Howdy with their AIS log in credentials.

My son was accepted a couple weeks ago as a Top 10%, awaiting Engineering Review but he has a very strong profile. Hoping for Honors and some scholarship money!

My daughter was accepted 9/12. Applied 8/1 and was auto admit top 10%.

My kid applied late August and got his last week, his status on ais went from submitted to accepted then a few days later got the packet in the mail

My daughter was auto admit but just switched to General Engineering instead of Engineering review this morning. So check if your child is under engineering review they may have changed over night.

My daughter has applications to Georgia Tech and MIT also so we will see. I also have a son that is a junior right now at A&M in mechanical engineering and has done great in the program. The article you linked mentioned the professor he has been a TA for the last 3 semesters. Now we just wait and see if little sister joins him in Aggieland.

Check the AIS portal. Some were posted in the past few days. My son (not top 10%) got accepted. Didn't get an email or snail mail...but learned it by randomly logging onto the AIS portal on Friday. He applied mid Sept.

Same here, my son was notified on Friday, found out by checking the portal.

Holistics started going out a week and a half ago. It seemed like Mays and Engineering had the most initially, but that may be because most kids applying to those in particular know that getting apps in early can help. So that early August batch may be more heavily weighted with them. But others are rolling out too. My youngest daughter became official this week - KINE with plans for PT school.

Thanks for the info. She got an email late last week for her to submit information (extracurriculars) for holistic review. AIMs says in process

i got my knucklehead son to submit his app before priority ended. getting info from him is like getting blood from a turnip, though.

two questions:

• expended turnaround on decision?
• do they let you know via mail, email, portal, etc?

I can't speak to turnaround except my son applied in August and was accepted last week. He wasn't top ten but was holistic in engineering.

And he found out by checking the portal. Didn't get an email or anything.

I think the only thing guaranteed is an answer by December 15. but depending on status, the answer might still be that they defer you to the spring.

They will have sent your son access to some online systems as part of the application. You have to go into those systems to see if you are accepted or not. They don't send an email or letter or anything as far as I can tell.

Students in the top 10% of their class are granted automatic admission to Texas A&M. Though not necessarily to the college of their choice. Everyone else gets in through a holistic review, where they consider your grades, test, scores, extracurriculars, etc.…

There are really not any defined dates on hearing back. If he is a holistic applicant and has high test scores and GPA, then hearing back in the fall is possible; some started going out 2 weeks ago. But the majority of holistics will hear in the January to March timeframe. I wish they would change this and formally inform kids that they are admitted, deferred, or denied in waves in the fall.

The main spot to check is the AIS portal where he submitted, although there is a cheat code at times where the Howdy Portal will show 7 menu tabs if they are in (the official AIS notification may come hours or a day or so later. But AIS is the main, official spot

Meaning they look at all your attributes (class rank, test scores, activities, essay, etc)

Yes, you are either a top 10% auto-admit or you are holistic (not top 10% or out of state), meaning they'll evaluate the entire application submission in making the decision.

Quick question, what do the menu tabs look like in Howdy? My son finally finished his application this past Sunday, so we finally got everything set up with the AIS. Haven't spent much time on Howdy yet so wasn't sure where to look?

See aggieJohn's 3rd post Reddit post. If 7 tabs show, that is supposedly the earliest indicator (a day or 2 before AIS).

FWIW, we did the Discover Aggieland thing yesterday. If your kid is on the fence or hasn't had much exposure to a&m, it's worth checking out.
