Socialism and Communism ultimately leads to stuff like this. Vietnam is just another example. It's all about the collective and individuals don't matter, unless you happen to be one of the few in power.

I agree, and have a theory that goes like this...
There was a time when the aristocracy ruled,
with a small middle class, and huge class of
peons (pay-ons) who owned nothing and paid rent.
Overtime, the European ideal that all should be
equal before the law (as all would be equal before God)
lead gradually (with a kick from the New World) to
societies with large middle class populations.
Now. we are seeing more societies run by a small
single party whose members have privileges
and a small middle class of military and tech people,
while huge class of "equal" workers exists just
slightly above the slave level.

Like communism in China Vietnam ain't like it used to be, they've gone from one of the worst economies in the world to somewhat respectable. This doesn't really strike me as a move done for the collective. If a school is judged based on outcomes of students and Asian companies don't hire short people as managers, there is some logic to it (I don't agree with it).
