Yeah, Texas is ranked number 31, but if you drill down into the data, you will find that A&M's post-graduate salaries are slightly higher.

How the hell are Rutgers and Sand Diego State ranked ahead of us?! Must be the higher cost of living in New York and Socal driving up their nominal salaries.

The ranking system details need to be stated. Someone is making a decision on every input to the spread sheet. What are their qualifications to judge?

The real criteria is the overall success of its graduates.

The WSJ journal rankings came out today too. Think you are 38 here.

UF always does well in these because our tuition is so low so ROI is high. But you all always have a higher median salary for your grads than we do. Which is a pretty big arbiter in how good a school is.

It's influenced by oil and gas having higher salaries and Aggies having more funnels for students into oil and gas industry.

I am a bit surprised that they put Texas ahead of Georgia Tech. Tech is an absolutely amazing school, and it is really difficult to get into. They turn out a helluva engineer. As an aside, I think they found the only two pretty girls on campus for the profile picture in the list (lolpoor laugh/cry emoticon).

The Forbes survey is always a strange on to me. Hard to believe the Cal Tech (1;3 faculty to student ratio) is below San Diego State University. I think the Forbes survey weighs heavily on number of first time students, so that would help SDSU. They also look at earnings, which is legit. A lot of Cal Tech students are still in grad schools or research. or medical residencies a few years after graduation. Ii remember seeing that their average SAT Math score was 800. Sheldon Cooper may have been one of the few Cal Tech grads who was the first in his family to graduate from college.

I know schools should be ranked on how well they are able to help students who parents do not work for Goldman Sacks become highly productive members of society, but the big name schools do have lots of professors who are leaders in their fields teaching students in small classes.

TAMU was ranked 1st in Texas recently and a high number nationally. Different criteria. What counts is your degree and can you earn a living and get off welfare. Many sip degrees are worthless.
