Posting for a friend who's son is a freshman. Due to a serious personal event, son had to drop from 4 to 2 classes this semester which is below full time student requirements I believe.

If the classes are dropped late in the semester, does this have any impact on financial aid that requires a student to be full time, either for the current semester or future semesters?

Does anyone know the right person to call to figure some of this out? He's made several phone calls to the university and each time has been on hold for 1hr+ until the call disconnects.

Hold the "tell him to figure it out on his own".. trust me that in this situation you'd probably step in to help too.

*Usually* a student can drop below full time status and not impact their financial aid, if it is done after the census date (12th class day). I am not a financial aid advisor though. I would strongly encourage the student to visit with a financial aid advisor, even if they have to wait on hold a long time. Or just go to their office in person.
