My son is a junior in HS and will apply to TAMU college of engineering this fall '23.

He is planning to take English 104 at a community college this summer '23 (prior to applying) to get a head start on college. Does that impact his application as a freshman this fall? I'm trying to confirm that this summer college credit won't impact how his application is treated (e.g. he won't be treated as a "transfer").

This summer he is also planning to take CLEP in 4 classes: American Govt, US History I, US History II, Introductory Sociology. Any issue with doing this as a junior in HS?

Thanks for any advice.

Nope. It won't change his application status since he is enrolling as a dual enrollment student in the community college.

Students are not considered transfer students until they have graduated high school and enrolled in a post-secondary institution afterward.
