Does anyone have what they would consider a reliable ranking or listing of universities for Political Science majors? For whatever reason, I don't necessarily trust the US News and World Report rankings. Thanks

NICHE has some solid rankings along with other college information that can help you learn more about a campus.

The question depends on whether you're looking at PhD programs, Public Service Masters programs, or undergrad programs.

If you aren't trying to be an academic or work on Wall Street, the undergrad program you go to doesn't matter at all. If you're trying to be an academic ranking is irrelevant as long as you go to a SLAC or R1/R2 and have a good GPA (3.5+) and good GRE (1400+) scores.

Thanks. He's looking at undergraduate programs. He's only 17, so he thinks he's invincible and that his education isn't how he will eventually make his money. For a lot of fields other than politics, I think you're correct that a graduate degree is really what matters. That being said, if he were to go to a highly competitive undergraduate program, the chances of making "connections" there might be better.

When in doubt go IVY at undergrad regardless of what you want to study just for networking/opportunities.

If you want to go to grad school in any field just do well at an R1/R2.
