Has anybody ever taken this class? I signed up for it, but recently heard it isn't as easy as it sounds. MyEdu makes it seem like it's not very hard, but I'd rather double check before I pay for the class. I'm a senior Communication major, if that matters. Any input would be helpful!

And yes, you're allowed to tease me for being worried about flower arranging!

Super easy. I got. 99.8 and it's fun making the designs each week

That's what I was hoping to hear! Thank you!

You will have to learn/know a little about plant biology.

...

I always thought that those stupid ass electives in a general area (Internation Cultral Diversity Credits - ICDC) were such a waste of money for students.

There are a ton of students, majors and courses that have no place at a university ... its the american system. There was an article on yahoo this week that said that 1/2 of college graduates would be unemployed or underemployed and unable to pay for their student loan debt, this is clearly a big DUH, because we send people to college instead of to the workforce, despite the fact that many college students are completely unsuited for an actual university atmosphere.

Randy,

I'm speaking more to the fact that a Comm major takes a secondary level biology class or anthropology class.

It's just dumb. No real reason. I'm under-employed but mostly by my own account. I want to live in the Houston area but there are no jobs for people with MS in Entomology. So I work for much lower wages in the natural resources field (not O&G).

this is NOT the case here

Heaven forbid I take a class that interests me and I've heard is fun and engaging. I only need one more class to complete my major, and one more class to complete my minor. I need an elective to finish my degree requirements. This class fits well into my schedule and meets the requirements of being an elective.

I do not understand why your attitude changed from being helpful, to rude. There were spots still available for this class the last time I checked, so please don't accuse me of taking a learning experience away from another student.

Oh, and I pay out of my own pocket for school. I have no financial aid, no government assistance, and no loans.

I hope when somebody comes here and asks for advice again, you are more helpful and less judgmental.

gunrange, i guess you missed the big bold print at the bottom of my post?

This is not the case in your example.

Floral design is for anyone. I am talking about people who fill up courses that are hard to get into and required for some individuals, when they don't need them.

There are a crap ton of those people out there.

why the hell are you taking this class if you're a comm major?

I guess this is your way of being helpful?

(No offense your time would be better spent in a business class and the spot could go to someone potentially more likely to use the learned material)

You're certainly not trying to tell me what's best for my degree plan here or accusing me of taking a learning opportunity away from another student.

Before you start doling out advice and being rude, you might want to wait and ask a few more (politely worded) questions.

Ok, sorry I was rude (honestly).

I'm curious as to why you chose to take this class.

Is there another class of the communications or business or info variety that you feel would help you in the future as far as getting a job or furthering your knowledge in a certain area?

The class is pretty easy, but if you have no science background you may strugle with the lecture portion of the class. The design portion, however, is entirely a decorative skill grade, basically based on how well you can follow the set design plan for the flowers.

ie. focal point, lines, symetry... only real thing that makes this hard is available materials (flowers you have to choose from).

I'm taking this class because I need an elective. I figured I should enjoy my elective because I'm the one paying for it. I've heard it's an interesting class and the prof is great. All I wanted to know was whether all the good things I've heard are true.

I appreciate your apology. All I wanted was input on a specific class, not an opinion on my taste in electives.

Good class. I saved $ by doing our wedding flowers. I haven't used a florist since. More useful to me than business math...
