-medical sciences library (it's across from the west campus library)
-5th floor of evans is designated as the quiet floor
-most of the classrooms in zachry are open all night during the school year, so you can have an entire room to yourself.

Besides the obvious ones like Evans and the Flag Room, my favorites were the tables on the second flour of the Engineering/Physics Building and the sitting areas at the north western corner of every floor in the new Chemical Engineering Building. Also like Blue said, the classrooms in Zach are great if you have a bigger group.

If you're looking for an outside study spot, I really liked setting up shop on the Grassy Knoll in front of the Animal Husbandry Building.

I thought every floor after 2 was supposed to be quiet. I like the third floor, usually pretty quiet.

- second floor of Rudder
- as mentioned above, zachry (later the better obviously)
- second floor of the MSC by the copy center
- some of my friends used to go to their actual classroom after hours and said it helps and is empty
- study rooms in the Commons on Southside
- if you live in a dorm of any kind (especially modular), they had their own study rooms within each hall or even floor I think

-if you are an attractive female you can PM me a photo and possibly earn admission to my super secret study spot(s). Its pretty exclusive though.

Stay out of the Brown building. The grad students don't like people up there (yes, that means me). Find a classroom or go to the library or your house. You don't see me hanging out or sleeping at your PoB; I don't want to see it at mine.

Did you know that the Brown building is not the Brown Grad Students Building but the Brown Engineering Building?? As I ChemE undergrad, I spent a lot of time in there outside of class. Sorry to ruin your life! Go hang out in the grad student lounge if you don't want to have to see non-grad students.

I agree with egon.

Go to the library (thats what it's there for), or your major's lab/lounge.
if you can't get it done there, go home.
I hate it when I can't even get into my buiding and my lab because people think it's nice to clutter up the entry way and "study".

Unless your name is Texas A&M University, it isn't your building. Get over yourself and take the two steps to walk around someone who is studying.

if it wasn't for my hard earned money (and others), there would be no texas a&m.
each major has it's own building or floors. there is a library with ample space.
just this evening a meeting I was in had to put up with some very loud non-affiliated people doing God knows what interrupting the speaker.
I will be glad when they activate the card readers on all the doors and make the entire building controlled access.

We all had to deal with noise, so get over it. I'm so tired of people complaining. If you want a quiet place to study then why don't YOU go home. Access cards or not, A&M is a PUBLIC university. Deal with the noise problems on your own, and please stop complaining.

It is one thing to be in the building and studying, but it is another thing when you are working and you have 3 kids, listening to their laptops, trying to "study" or you want to eat lunch in the lobby, but you have 2 people who feel that the chairs are "beds". Do I come to your PoB and hang out there, making loud noises and generally getting in the way? Do I roam around and act annoying to you? I am not on the 1st floor, I am on the 5th floor. Also, when things start "missing", the building gets in lockdown mode, meaning I have to swip my card everytime I get into the elevator. Since I generally work between 2 labs on 2 different floors, gets really annoying real quick.

Unless you work at a bar, people don't hang out where you work. Trust me, this is not a "one time event" or a "small percentage". Plus, if they were to act like they cared how the place looked, we might overlook the fact they aren't supposed to be here (talk to the building super, he will tell you). But when they destroy chairs, tables, scratch the floors, make up the pillars and walls, we (the grad students) start getting annoyed. We want our building to be nice, not have it turn into Zachry.

Prior, our building, past the 2nd floor, is NOT public. We have to have this building on lockdown due to the chemicals we have inside, thanks to 9/11, the FBI, ATF, Oklahoma city, etc. I realize that not all the kids are "turrists", but we have to have security in place for a reason. Also, the 5th floor is where were have bio research, so if you want to catch what we work with (which is the virulent E. coli (remember the spinach bit, yea, the same one),) then by all means come up.

Egon...i completely agree with you. But you can't really do a thing about it. Hopefully the card readers will get set up to keep the riff raff out.

Egon, quit being a crybaby. If there are people there before you who are studying and bothing you, find another place to study like anyone else would.

My tuition pays for the Brown building just like yours does. We're all Aggies here and we don't need to divide ourselves to our particular departments all the time. This isn't tu.

I'm prety sure he's not saying he studies there, I think he's saying he has to WORK there, and thus can't go home.

My lab is in a small building on Agronomy Road, and is locked after 5. Heep Center is also on card-read access but I don't know what time they go on lockdown. I agree, there's nothing more irritating than trying to have a meeting or late-night review session with your students while there are other students out in the hall making all kinds of noise.

I know I would be pissed to see some fat freshmen mingling with each other around my lab -- people need to go to the designated study areas.

Well, if that's the case, I stand corrected.

Oh Egon. You really need to get a handle on that anger.

But really, the real problem is when they lock down the elevators, undergrads can't get to their TA's without calling them and having them come down to get them. So, people, please listen to egon and not be going where people work.

I got some good studying done in the top floors of the library. That was 20 years ago, however.
