Keep in mind that while having a good prof is important, your own effort contributes just as much to your success in the class. You can do well with any prof if you are willing to put in the time and effort to actually study. If a less "loved" profs class or lab time fits your schedule better, you'll likely have more success than the one that everyone adores but has the lab that meets at some horrible time.
As for pick-a-prof just remember...
The kid that made an A loves the prof
The kid that made an F hates the prof
The kid that made a C, likely has the most objective review
