I have been told Q-drops are unlimited in grad school. Never used one, so I am not 100% sure.

unlimited Q-drops! yes this is true .... most of the time, you dont have to use them but they come in handy when you do ....

Never heard of that, but I never used a Q-Drop in grad school.

If you needed to drop a class, a prof would probably be more understanding and just let you drop without requiring anything, in fact they tell you that if you dont want to do the work, please stop coming.

hmm--I guess I am in the minority ---I "Q" dropped a grad class due to illness....my cumulative showed a total of 2 --1 from undergrad and 1
from grad.....maybe things have changed.....

There is a new state law that only allows a total of six drops / withdraws during an academic career. This started last fall and will be cumulative including undergraduate and graduate work at any state institution. After the sixth drop students have to pay a higher tuition rate. I think it is the the out of state tuition rate.

goober is correct, BUT it only applies to students who began their college career in fall, 2007

My understanding is it applies to everyone, but only drops/Ws from fall 07 forwards would be applied to the policy.

Under Section 51.907 of the Texas Education Code, "an institution of higher education may not permit a student to drop more than six courses, including any course a transfer student has dropped at another institution of higher education." Enacted: spring 2007, applying to students who enroll in a public institution of higher education as a first-time freshman in the fall, 2007 or later. Any course dropped counts if 1. the students was able to drop the course w/out receiving a grade or incurring an academic penalty; 2. transcript will indicates or will indicate student was enrolled in the course, and 3. the student is not dropping the course in order to withdraw from the institution?
