Something I have noticed...

I am getting nothing but Republican/Libertarian type text spam. I voted a week ago.

My wife, my mom, my sister all getting Talarico/Hinojosa spam.

Coworkers wives report the same thing.

They are targeting women to turn TX blue.

I am a 58 year old pinche gringo male, and I get tons of Talarico spam too. Everyone is getting it.

Access is a bull****, socialist metric. Texas has one of the best healthcare systems in the country. World class cancer research and treatment. Arguably best on planet. World class sports medicine. Just off top of my head.

We fly back to Texas for healthcare because there is no way in hell we are going to do it in NM who is laughably ranked above Texas in healthcare metics.

It's just absurd that Texas gets ranked so low.

Access may be about how many areas lack decent facilities. We have top tier facilities, but they are concentrated in the large metroplexes. If you are out in East Texas it's a long stretch to Tyler or Dallas to get to a decent hospital. I'd imagine West Texas faces similar hurdles, because our state is just so big.

That's pretty much every state though. TN is 50 and only has 7m people in whole state. So they are getting dinged because of geography?

It's what I said - far left wing ideology is pushing them that low. It's not geography. Therefore, it's a bogus category.

Being able to have abortions and forced unionization are not remotely Quality of Life issues.

Geography is part of the equation, as it impacts how many folks live in "healthcare deserts," but there is also the issue of rates of uninsured and underinsured, as those folks can't access the top tier care even if they live in one of the large cities.

TN may be impacted by poverty in Appalachia, and how that impacts their access to health insurance.

Rates of insured is a complete BS metric.
For lower income households subsidized Obamacare can be obtained. However, the insurance is useless to a low income household when it has a $10,000 deductible before the insurance kicks in.

For many, having no insurance and using the county health network is a much better option than having some fake insurance policy that cannot be used because of the outrageous deductibles.

Having insurance is not the same as access to healthcare.

All the while, the insurance companies are lining their pockets. Trump has harped on this. Wants to get more money back into the citizens pocket. About 3-4 months ago, Trump/Bessent talked about creating a new plan. They were supposed to lay it out late this year or the first half of next year.

Obama convinced everyone he was going to fix healthcare by letting the insurance companies write the legislation. The stuff the insurance companies didn't want to be responsible for because there was no profit got left to the government to deal with. Not only was Obama a race-baiting hypocrite, he was a gullible moron too with no sense of large scale economics.

I live in LA. I'd be happy to live in Texas again if it wasn't for the weather

Weather vs crap politics/taxation. Seems like an easy choice to me. East Texas has pretty nice weather. Heck, College Station has nice weather. That's why I moved back here. Well, that and the crappy sports. lolz

Umm...have you ever been literally anywhere else...?

Ive lived in California too, and left because of the reasons you mentioned, but to claim that Texas has nice weather, especially when comparing to California, is hilarious. I left for Idaho, which has good politics/taxation and high quality of life, beautiful scenery, and IMO incredible weather. Texas has many positives, but there is literally nothing positive about the weather. It's a trade off and compromise, but admit it, the weather is not in the positive column of living there. Idaho is a better compromise, but damn if I don't miss the food at both California and Texas; they don't know how to cook anything other than "American food" here, which definitely does not include bbq.

If you pay a water bill or have a lease in a large Texas county the low middle income and illegals get greatly discounted or free healthcare at the main county hospital.

Or it's just free. Back when I was in the hospital business, we ate millions per year in indignant care. And that was 25 years ago.

What does that include tho? I'm guessing there are procedures, treatments , surgeries, etc that you simply can't get at the main county hospitals. I'll admit I could be wrong about that .

Of course. Just saying a decent amount of healthcare given in this country is free, if you are low income or illegal.

I don't doubt that . If you have for example tho a tumor that needs to be operated on asap and followed up With radiation or chemotherapy or you are a dead man walking and those services are unavailable it does you no good . In that case I'd far prefer insurance with a $10k deductible.
