That really sucks if true. Would be the only win by a leftist down there recently but in the largest, most influential country.
I'm going to guess massive cheating happened as well.

Curious about his thought process on this one.

So "democracy" is when you are losing you have your former personal lawyer who you appointed to the Supreme Court issue a voting extension 3 minutes prior to the polls closing because you simply requested it. Of course you also made sure that the districts that favored you were aware and the ones who didn't already had closed and were unable to re-open.
Quote:
Incumbent leftist President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva narrowly defeated conservative Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro in Sunday's presidential runoff, according to The Associated Press. The deeply polarized nation returned to the polls for a second round runoff on Sunday.
Lula's victory followed chaos at polling places after a Supreme Court justice ordered a last-minute, two-hour voting extension, a move that could face a legal challenge from Bolsonaro.
While the Flavio Bolsonaro campaign had also requested an extension in certain areas impacted by heavy rains, the unusual decision by the court to extend voting hours nationwide by two hours will certainly draw scrutiny
Quote:
Lula petitioned for the extension, claiming that buses were not circulating to take voters to the polls as expected.
"I've never complained about anything in any election before. Whether I won or lost, I'd just accept it and get ready for the next one. But this time, something abominable is happening," Lula argued.
The Bolsonaro camp is likely to claim that the extension favored Lula.
Bolsonaro narrowly won the first round on Oct. 4, with 47% of the vote, to Lula's 45%, but fell short of the 50% majority required to win the election outright.
The victory marks an unprecedented fourth presidential term for Lula, and a remarkable comeback victory. The result is even more surprising given that Bolsonaro had led, albeit by tight margins, in recent polling, and Brazil had recently elected a conservative congress aligned with the Bolsonaro agenda.

Lula: 53.9 million votes
Round 2:
🏆Lula: 64.1 million votes (+10.2M)
Bolsonaro: 59.8 million votes (+3.7M)
To give you an idea of how unlikely this is: all the eliminated candidates from round 1 got 9.33M VOTES COMBINED

Unfortunately appears Lula is going to win. He only had a 20 percent chance up until today on Kalshi. Dude is a total corrupt POS. Not good for that country or the world. But shows how betting markets cannot be fully relied on for elections. Though somehow they only seem to flip in advantage of socialists and communists like Lula.
Addendum: right-wing parties hold a supermajority in both houses of Brazil's legislature and can freely impeach and remove Lula from office.

In the first round, the opposition and center-right achieved a crushing victory, snatching control of both chambers from the left.
Here's how the new legislative power map looks:
SENATE (81 seats | Majority: 41)
Right: 48 seats (59.3%)
Absolute majority consolidated!
Others: 33 seats (40.7%)
CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES (513 seats | Majority: 257)
Right: 303 seats (59.1%)
Center: 86 seats (16.8%)
Left: Only 124 seats (24.2%)
What does this mean? That any reform, budget, or law will have to pass through a gigantic wall of opposition containment.
The new government faces a historic Congress that won't give it any truce.
