Quote:

A physician and medical director from UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh was killed in an overnight stabbing that also left his wife injured in his home in Edgewood Borough.
Dr. Idris Evans, 46, died after he and his wife were violently attacked while they slept in their home along Linden Avenue early Thursday, police said. A suspect has been taken into custody.
According to court paperwork, Evans' wife told police that they awoke to a man attacking them in bed with a kitchen knife. She said he was wearing only underwear and uttered about "being God," the report said.
At some point during the attack she yelled for their children, 8 and 12 years old, to get out of the house and go to a neighbor's.
She told police that her husband called their attacker by the name "Elijah," as if he knew him.

I seem to recall a disturbing tiktok or instagram video of a guy going around attacking random white women, sometimes knocking them out on the pavement and continuing to hit them, screaming something about a date and someone doing something to his son Elijah. Wonder if this was him.

Anyway, the guy was arrested on 2 felonies in July for Burglary and Theft for breaking into his ex's apartment and stealing her stuff, exactly what he was doing when he stabbed these people, but he was released with a signature and $0 bond. Two months ago.

2 kids made it out alive and his wife is fighting for her life in critical condition.

Not to victim blame, but…

No dog? No security system? Were their doors even locked? I don't understand how you don't exercise a modicum of security and situational awareness, especially if you live outside a major metro. I live outside of a town with 1700 people, and I still have 4 loud dogs, an alarm, and multiple locks between me and an intruder.

trash post. we shouldnt be forced to live in a society where judges give wrist slaps to people with felony rap sheets, sometimes pages and decades long... and when they do the most predictable thing 2 months later, have to wonder why things like this are happening (notice the news reporter says there was "no clear motive" Uh huh). we also certainly shouldn't try and blame the people murdered in their beds with their children tens of feet away.

That's the tweet that brought my attention to the story, but the general irritation over the whole *siren emoji* BREAKING: *siren emoji* this is WHAT TO THINK formatting that is kind of the general mood now on the platform kind of grossed me out, so I just posted another source. It's easy to dismiss these as "just twitter" reporting.

It's all true, though. And horrific. The judge that let him out with no consequences at all may have created two orphans. I hope their mother recovers and is able to somehow pick up the pieces.

Between this and the poor guy nearly beheaded in Round Rock less than two weeks ago, we are losing our best and brightest contributors to the criminally insane. "Restorative justice" does. not. work. Full stop.

On its face, it was a stupid idea. Seeing the ripples of its effects in society and living, it's much worse than that.

This is what you vote for when you endorse candidates that want to "defund the police". They want these people out there and committing chaos, so they can have you vote for them again to "fix it", and the only thing they need is "more funding" that they waste and grift away.

Stop letting the 2-3% of the criminal public out with slaps on the wrist and this all stops. You have them there in court anyway for criminal wrong doing. Put. Them. Away, and it all goes away.

But they don't want to do that for idiotic reasons.

When I lived outside Weatherford, I don't think I EVER locked the door...I lived there for almost 20 years.

Had dogs, though...

We live out in the country. I keep loaded weaponry by bed. The police are not going to protect you out here.

I agree we shouldnt have to worry about this crap but with "diversity is our strength" as the modus operandi of this country, you will have to worry about it. Shaming people for being proactive makes no sense with this reality.

You plan for the reality; not what you wish to be true.

I wish someone would track the number of violent crimes each judge was responsible for, by letting these repeat offending animals out time after time.

Judges should be charged with accessory....and sent to share a cell with these thugs. Let them get a taste of who they're dealing with. Where is Dexter when you need him?

You forgot the moat and alligators.

In this case the best way to prevent the attack was to incarcerate the perpetrator.

Before anyone says, "they can't, the prisons are too full," the alternative to letting criminals walk is to put the longest residents down to make room for the new guy.

The guy that got killed is white. Black man was simply enacting social justice on the oppressive white guy. White guy had it coming.

Crazy when you think a bartender can go to jail for over serving a patron who goes on to kill someone, yet a judge has no consequences. When you start to see these things you realize quickly that we aren't as free as we believe, we are caged.

Not to victim blame...

But isn't this the victim's fault?

Also...

How do you know they didn't take proper precautions like locked doors and a security system? Someone intent on breaking into your house in their underwear and murdering you in your sleep probably doesn't care about those things.

At what point is it no longer the victim's fault for being murdered? Are we required to hire 24/7 professional security and surround our homes in razor wire?

That's great. In your area, it could be overkill on your part, but better safe than sorry. But in our major metro areas, if some thug kicks in your door, comes in to rape your wife and steal your stuff, your ass is more than likely going to jail for simply shooting said thug in the head. Or even brandishing your weapon at the thug.

This world has been turned upside down by liberals.

So, multiple lives ruined in order to "go social justice" by "helping a disadvantaged person" escape responsibility for their previous actions. If they had held the violent criminal accountable for their previous actions, even the criminal would be better off in jail instead of committing more and more serious crimes.

Serious questions:

1. Is it possible for the hopefully surviving wife to sue the judge?
2. Not that it would happen in filly but in a sane jurisdiction could a DA prosecute the judge?
3. Am I correct to assume the answers to 1 and 2 are based on local or state laws and not federal?
