He said ALL truckers are going on strike October 1 to protest "Trump's Diesel Prices"

He then said they are going to Costco to fill up both cars and stock up on paper goods.

My reply was that he was feeding into/from the same panic mentality that so many did during the toilet paper runs of 2020.

His reply to that was that the only time he will be driving anywhere for the foreseeable will be to go to doctor appointments.

American truckers don't strike. The spot rates for deliveries would spike and they would all jump in their cabs to go make the big bucks.

The owner/operators are for sure not happy. The corporate drivers that don't pay their own fuel don't give a crap unless they are told not to idle at truck stops by the corporate overlords, they get mad.

Most native truckers have been replaced by foreign migrants on phony visas and phony cdls.
Protest is probably driven by private equity upset over immigration enforcement.

Which would be $2.16 a gallon in 2026 dollars. Plus about 30 cents a gallon in taxes that weren't in force then

This is correct. I talked to several truckers, people I've known for years, a few years ago when there were rumors of a coordinated something or other. I don't recall if it was a strike or something else. Anyway, they all told me the same thing: you couldn't get 3 truckers to agree that the sun rises in the east.

As someone who own's a trucking company - no one is going on strike. The Taliban's will keep running no matter what, the small to mid tier guys like us aren't going to stop moving, I've got bills to pay. The mega carrier company drivers or lease operators won't have a seat to come back to if they did. There is no union organizing it. It's some blow hard single truck operators that might park their trucks.

Yeah. Because it was Biden that killed Keystone XL that world have drastically increased our capacity for heavy (ideal for making diesel) crude to Canada to refineries in Texas that are optimized for that type of crude.

This is correct. I talked to several truckers, people I've known for years, a few years ago when there were rumors of a coordinated something or other. I don't recall if it was a strike or something else. Anyway, they all told me the same thing: you couldn't get 3 truckers to agree that the sun rises in the east.

If the Teamsters aren't in, this goes no where and does nothing. Thanks to the beginning of removing non-English speaking CDLs has only made driver pay jump. I'm in an industry that looks at that in a big way. I think this is election manipulation and nothing more.

100%. Any properly run business is doing this and has been doing this since prices went up. I don't know why folks have such a hard time understanding basic things like this. I blame public schools.

That "strike" will last about 3-4 hours. Then they'll all realize they're ready to get back to getting $6/mile on long hauls and get back to rate gouging. I live in this world. Drivers are making more money right now than they ever have. If fuel goes up a dime, rates increase by 30%. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they parked.

Just FYI, rarely do the fuel surcharges get passed to the trucking company since shippers can't seem to get out of their heads that you don't have to use a broker to ship something.....
