So someone was shipping parts to Lockheed Martin in the US. Was flying over the Pacific, and got diverted to Hong Kong somehow.

Quote:

The parts, which an intermediary was transporting on behalf of F-35 manufacturer Lockheed Martin, instead wound up in Hong Kong. It's not clear why the equipment was rerouted or who has possession of it now.

The incident, which has not been previously reported, triggered an ongoing series of briefings for congressional staff on key national security committees. State Department and Pentagon officials first briefed staff in June, according to the people, and multiple additional briefings are expected in the coming weeks.

It really blows my mind how we lose stuff like this. I mean, it's like when that Maylasian Jet just vanished. HOW DOES A PLANE JUST VANISH?

This seems like an appropriate time to remind everyone that white Christian Nationalists are the biggest threat to America

Not in any way a defense to the flight plan including HK as an alternate here, but China's had the specifics of the F-35 design for decades now. They even sarcastically named their copy the J-35.

Not content with that, they then have hired former instructors/pilots such as this utter piece of crap to share data on training/tactics/infrastructure.

My only point is that access to a physical canopy etc. probably isn't as earth-shatteringly useful to them as one might on first glance assume.

The shipment included one of the jet's canopies, which covers the cockpit and contains stealth technology that only the U.S. and its allies have access to, according to two of the people.

Why are parts of a highly important military asset made outside of the US?

In this case they weren't. They were used / spare components being sent back to the US after a maintenance action performed in Australia.
