Appears to be an overrun of the runway at MIA by a Prime Air 767 Cargo jet from Puerto Rico, not sure on injuries at the moment.

Was about to make a thread on this. Got pulled away from the computer. Oh well.

5 dead, 5 in the hospital with 3 critical.

Aircraft was N1997A, a Boeing 767-33A built in 1994 for Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (Leasing Company).

Amazon doesn't own or operate the plane.

They contract it out to various cargo airlines. This one was operated by 21Air.

That said, piss poor landing attempt.

No flare until just before touchdown and landed fast and long.

Spoilers and thrust reverses not deployed, at least not right after touchdown. Photos of the wreck show neither deployed on the left wing.

How much was due to the weather, and how much is pilot error will be the NTSB's job to figure out.

I'm pretty sure the thrust reverses and spoilers won't deploy until weight on wheel indication. So what that left side still floating above the runway those won't come out.

True, and I guess its possible they didn't get the left gear down until the end so no chance to deploy.

If that's the case, then the pilots will have some hard questions to answer.

Looks to me like they had a tailwind and floated along without doing a go-around, for whatever reason.

Speed looks too high here, pilots were at fault. Plane didnt seem configured correctly upon landing.

I read that it crossed a road? Were there any fatalities caused by that or was it just the crew?
