I recall JD vance saying that home and rent prices would drop due to the administration deporting illegals and thus lowering demand for housing.

2 years later and we haven't really seen a drop in the market or inflation for that matter. Did something stop Trump from deporting the amount of illegals that he wanted? It seemed like the administration thought deporting illegals in mass would lower everything else as well too like gas and food, but we haven't seen the results pan out just yet.

Just bought a house. Couldn't 2 yrs ago. Unless you're in the market for a house, you might not know it's changed a bunch. Lots of incentives for new houses vs older, pre-owned homes.

For example, the administration pointed to data showing year-over-year drops in median rent and home listing prices in major metro areas with high immigrant populationssuch as Austin (-7.3%), San Diego (-6.7%), and Miami (-4.3%)explicitly stating via official channels that "Mass deportations = lower housing costs for Americans." Well the war is where it all went wrong.

These corpos look for any reason to raise prices, and then a lot before they finally start lowering them. The war gave them an easy reason to keep them high and jack them up further.

Sucks actually that Trumps entire economic agenda was destroyed over a pointless war as I think it could have been really good without it.

There are over 30 to 40 million illegals, not to mention the 10 million that entered under Biden.

To get them all, we actually need an Army to track them all down.

ICE picked up a record 50,000 last month and have not even put a dent in the numbers.

House prices have declined in a lot of areas and rents are flat or down in most of Texas. I can't speak for other states.

I think one of the things the politicians aren't very good at is messaging about the difference between inflation and deflation. Controlling inflation doesn't mean you will have deflation. Deflation can be very bad.

Prices for goods and services (in general) are not likely to get lower unless we enter some sort of depression or deep recession. We don't want that.

What you hope to do is spur the economy enough so that real wage increases outpace real inflation and that's something I think we can do better.

Alternative would have been worst with Kamala and as I have stated, the Venezuela takedown is absolutely stunning.

mass deportations was always an empty promise. for one thing, forcibly removing millions of people is a massive logistical undertaking. it requires a highly competent, coordinated, and well-planned operation, and this administration has given us plenty of evidence that they aren't capable of that.

Well the replacement for Noem isn't about mass deportations any longer so at this point just celebrate the border closed. For now.

On housing it's interest rates and many other things including gas prices. The reason new construction has deals is because they are trying to move inventory.

Obama is still winning in deportations. That's gotta bother Trump (but he's got 2.5 more years)…

Well Obama counted "turn aways" as deportations….thankfully Trump is batting 100% on border control

Yah, it's all a game to the bacon-wrapped shrimp crowd.

Trump will never have that many turnaways. He's hot the wall doing his business.

Don't assume every post that isn't " far right" or throwing meat to the base as trolling.

I would've been fine with Trump getting the army, a list, and going thru the neighborhoods to round up all the illegals, but we haven't been able to kick out as many as I'd like.

The border and weed policy are things I actually agree with trump on. Congressional and especially local republicans are too terrible on weed policy for me to support. They need to get reefer madness out of their thick skulls and join the 21st century. Heck, Even dan patrick would be making progress if the dude joined the 20th century.

Dude I had a house in my neighborhood listed for $100k under the buy price 3 years ago and sat on the market for three months and didn't sell. Another sold for $115k under their buy price 2 years ago.

The housing market is vanishing in rural areas it the metroplex

People typically aren't too keen on cashing out their equity, rolling it into a new place, and having a higher monthly payment because interest rates are what they are. The housing market is basically locked up at the moment, and it's going to take a long time for all those sub-4% loans to clear the market before markets recover.

They were plenty capable, but thanks to leftist judges and Democrat state and local officials, they get stopped every time they get rolling.

What does the DSA Michigan senate candidate have to do with housing prices?

Latest report i saw is that 3m illegals have been deported or went home.

Definite improvement but when you have half the country and the courts who hate us having borders and being sovereign then it's an uphill climb.

I have a rare of 2.75% on a home I own, but I am not willing to sell and have rented it out…I am not selling anytime and just banking equity…that is the story for a large portion of the housing market right now.

I am a real estate agent in the Austin area. The home values have plummeted and that hurts me as I primarily just list homes. Now, I have switched back to leasing, as you can easily get 100's of leads per day. There are people still needing to rent, but rental rates are way down as well.

I like the rental rates down, though. You get a bigger percentage of the first months rent. Some apartment complexes even pay 200% of the first months rent because they are desperate for higher occupancy.

You could deport every illegal immigrant in the country and it would do very little to the cost of the type of housing people here would be interested in buying. Namely, decently sized single family suburban housing in desirable areas. That's because housing prices in those areas stay high largely because the people living there want them to.

Everyone wants houses to be cheaper, just not THEIR house.

Falling home prices is a double edged sword. For many their home is a significant portion of their wealth. Getting the housing market to soften directly reduces their on paper wealth.
