Not Indian but I made butter chicken the other day night and it used a decent amount of Garam Masala. The kids devoured it with their vegetables. Was pleasantly surprised as I had never used it previously.

This is great news.

179 years means they are going to have to make a decision on whether they want to continue living in the US as slaves with the sword hanging over their heads. One layoff and they have to go home. Any day. Not worth it the stress.

If Trump plays all his cards well, H1B issue will be as good as dead.

Tech job market still stinks though. I think corps are on wait and watch mode.

H1B applications drop 87 percent.

ETA: The quoted USA Today tear fest about this is highly misleading.

Of course some Obama/Biden judge will proclaim this entirely unconstitutional somehow.

The original $100K payment came from a presidential proclamation and was struck down. The government is appealing.

DHS has now separately proposed a $103,265 fee through formal rulemaking under different statutory authority.

And the $8.8B isn't some number Trump randomly invented. It's literally DHS's published calculation:

$103,265 x 85,000 cap-subject petitions = $8.78 billion.

You can absolutely argue that DHS's assumption of 85,000 petitions at that price is unrealistic.

But at least describe the policy accurately before calling it "absolute madness."

And if applications really collapsed 87% because employers wouldn't pay $100K, perhaps we should be asking what that tells us about how indispensable those workers actually were.
