New York, yes has always had a large imigrant population. But it's always been rooted in capitalism and the foundation of the American dream that you can arrive with nothing and reach for the stars.

Have you ever lived in New York?

My dad worked for Shell Oil and we lived in 6 different states, including 3 years in New York, back in the day Shell's US HQ's was there before relocating to Houston. Other spots included the San Fran Bay Area, the Chicago area, and the St. Louis area.

Many of these places do have an identity……….an observable culture or set of cultures. Houston does. San Fran does. New York………It's such a massive and diverse set of people, to me, it's just different. It's like a 100 cities within a city. It's kinda like the whole world and its religions and cultures in one area. Always has been.

If you think i'm wrong let me ask you this. How would you describe the NY Culture and values of the 1970's…….80's……90's…..etc. How does it differ from today?
