I have a question for the board. Just out of curiosity

Does the baseball team at Tarleton, or basketball team men or women at Lamar, or the soccer team at West Texas A&M, have any value if they are not profitable?

What about the Cross Country team at A&M or t.u?

For the record I have only read maybe 10% of this thread. So it may have been discussed already.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

I can't imagine anything less important for these elected officials to be spending their time on right now.

Every conference other than the Big 12 should refuse to participate in these talks until Cody Campbell is removed from the process. ****ing clown.

Hmmm… who knew that governance of college athletics was one of the enumerated powers listed in the Constitution!

Just another overreach by the federal government that citizens turn a blind eye to.

Believe it or not, they can work on multiple things and it's not like this is taking all day every day

with SEC and Big 10 on board, the belief is this one now have enough votes to beat a filibuster in the senate.

It was said that the congressional black caucus was going to vote against the bill in the house. But now there's a provision giving grant money to historically black colleges. So they may have been bought off again.

Will say with the media pooling stuff- if they really let schools or conferences opt out, it will officially kill college sports.

So the bill does not require any pooling, so anyone can "opt out". How long until college sports is officially dead?

Government is already involved through the antitrust laws. That's been the basis for all the lawsuits, or are you one of those people who don't think lawsuits involve the government?

I'm one of those people who thinks the government ruins everything it touches

Without exception

If you don't believe me, go buy a gas can. Government screwed up gravity.

To be clear, I don't agree with the antitrust laws either

Well, that's why all the conferences want Congress to pass SOMETHING which gets college athletics out of the trap that the antitrust laws have put them in. This bill isn't ideal, but it seems to be a small step in that direction.

So in 2026 we're still buying black folk........

My goodness slavery was such a monumental blunder. We have to pay reparations bribes in order to get black politicians to vote against the pen*ses of crazy white males in womens locker rooms and showers. Worst decision ever and we will always pay the price.

I'm not sure that's going to stop the train. I think the bill sponsors have always had the CBC down as "no" voters on this bill. They were happy to fall in line with the agents who want this bill stopped.

it didn't make it to the floor before the recess. So will have to wait until September

It's not dead yet, but this gives everyone more time to dissect it, make changes, add poison pills etc. so passage far from a sure thing in the senate. Even harder path in the house
