It's speed. Daughter played competitive collegiate soccer, and the boys are just so much faster - both in a straight line and laterally.

Yep.

I used to watch one of the top girls U17 club teams in the state train on the field adjacent to a boys team that was two or maybe three years younger. There was no comparison in terms of speed and aggressiveness.

The boys played with sheer reckless abandon, even in training drills. Seeing them side-by-side was eye-opening.

I have had many debates with friends on whether a top 10 nationally ranked high school boys basketball team could beat the WNBA champs. I say they could, but a lot of people say otherwise. What do y'all think?

The boys would beat them like a drum. Wouldn't even be close.

Uhh..yeah they could. Take the 6A state champ in Texas and they would do it. The women wouldn't know what to do because the guys would be taller, faster, and can jump higher. It wouldn't even be close. I'd even say they would be better ball handlers. We've all heard about women's college teams practicing against rec ball boys, and it's true. My wife played basketball and they would do it.

I believe it was Clay Travis who said a few years ago that the boys 100m and 200m sprint times at whatever meet is the state championship for HS in Texas were faster than the women's olympic world records.

If women want viewership for sports they need to talk to Jesse Cole about getting a couple of team slots.

The best advice I was ever given was to "stay in your lane".

Men will never equal a women's tolerance for pain. I present childbirth as an example.

This will not stop ESPN from promoting the heck out of it though.

Last night I saw they had a special, for the women's Pro Softball draft. I didnt even know this existed.

I used to think "The Ocho" was something made up for the movie Dodgeball.

I mean, if there's money to be made, and if The Ocho actually exists, it's not far from brand for ESPN to try and make money off of Softball.

Heck, if the WNBA can get more recognition, and way more pay now, it might happen to the other girls.

The problem is they will bump something like A&M/Auburn baseball to The Ocho and put Dartmouth vs University of Phoenix softball on ABC/ESPN simulcast and then claim Softball is more popular because look at the numbers!

hot water is another

My wife, my mom, other women I have known, they can put their hands in scalding water like it's nothing. Like they're Targaryeon's or something.

Also being sick. On the rarity I get sick, I turn in to the biggest poon on the planet. My wife just guts it out like a champ.

And none of this should take away from the accomplishment, or eliteness of the girls. When competing on equal playing fields with other girls, the same talent, commitment and passion for the sport will cause the winner to rise to the top.

You just cannot compare across two different biological platforms. It would be like entering a 100cc dirt bike into a 50cc race. Thats not competitive. That's not about achieving greatness within common parameters.

You also don't ask a male human sprinter to race a cheetah. Why? Because it's not really interesting. At all.

That doesn't mean it's not an accomplishment to work yourself into being the world's fastest man because you aren't as fast a cheetah.

The problem women's sports has is the biggest benefactor is basketball, which is one of the hardest women's sports to watch.

Women's volleyball is great. So is women's soccer. Sure, the game is slower, but then it becomes possible to see strategy a little easier for someone new to the sport. And the competition is more equal, so it isn't the same as men playing women and completely dominating.

Watching women struggle to throw a ball through a hoop is just brutal.

What if, halfway thru the race, the cheetah decided to be a cheetah and attack the dude racing him then drag him up in a tree to save for later. Cause that would be kind of interesting.

So much this. YouTubers are making careers out of Angel Reese lowlights. And she's allegedly one of the best womens players.

Womens soccer can actually be entertaining. Volleyball is fantastic. Even softball is fun - but it's a different sport than baseball. No one (that I no of) is clamoring for chick baseball.

An additional factor in the WNBA vs men or boys is the basketball size:

"The WNBA ball is 28.5 inches in circumference and weighs 20 ounces, whereas the NBA/boys HS ball is 29.5 inches and weighs 22 ounces."

There are some JV teams at the better HS basketball schools that would bet the WNBA champs, especially if the women had to play the larger ball.

LOL, you have some dumb friends. A top 10 boys (men) team would absolutely CRUSH a team of WNBA "all-stars." It would not be close. A middle of the pack AAU team would still dominate the WNBA champs. The athleticism difference - speed, strength, quickness, agility - would be staggering.

There used to be a poster here whose son went to A&M and was on the scout team that practiced against the women's basketball team the year we won the national championship.

The scout team was all run of the mill 3A male basketball players - generally guys who started for their high school teams but had gotten no interest in playing college basketball.

That scout team regularly smoked the A&M women's team that won the national championship.

In a tune-up scrimmage, the Washington Huskies women's team (average age~20-21) lost to a boy's U-14 club. U-14 = 12 and 13-yr old's. So generally pre-growth spurts and the positive athletic effects of puberty.

The boys won 2-1. BTW, the Huskies are ranked #6 in the nation.

Watching women's sports can be very rewarding (for some), but generally women will never be athletically competitive with men. The left should recognize this and celebrate the difference, rather than allowing men to dominate women's sports.

And don't even get me started on the woke movies/tv series portraying women as capable of keeping up or surpassing men in combat etc. :-)

No wonder so many women are so unhappy; once again the left is setting up impossible expectations in projecting equal outcomes, as opposed to equal opportunity.

I'll be honest.

I would love to watch a replay of this scrimmage, because it would be entertaining.

Does anyone know of a similar type match played between much younger boys against collegiate or pro women where we have coverage of the game on video?

There is video out there of an exhibition match between bottom tier English pro soccer team and *I think* the UK women's Olympic team. Absolute slaughter and hilarious to watch.

The English team had some big dude on it who would just score at will and basically run through all of the women with no care in the world.

U-14 means they don't turn 15 before Sept 1, 2026. Your 12-13 year olds is off. They are 8th graders.

Not saying they are full grown men, but my 13 year old routinely plays against kids that are over 6 feet tall in 7th grade. Check out Christian Bell. Some of these kids are just beasts.

Worse....this isn't a one-off, either.

Women vs young teen/pre-teen male exhibition games keep ending like this. So often, I have to think it always ends like this or we'd hear "See!? We're equal!!!" Screamed from the rooftops.

They'll just play the U-10 club next time. And and keep going down in age until they win so they can say just that.

Interesting thought experiment - how young of a boys select team would you have to go to find one they could beat?

I'm guessing it would be an age they may occasionally have to babysit.

Didn't this happen with the United States team as well? Why do they keep setting themselves up for this failure?

That said I do think I need to keep biological males out of women's sports though. I know apples and oranges, but tangent.

Yep, the USWNT lost to the FC Dallas U-15 team, 5-2. Serena Williams lost a match to a man ranked outside the world top 200 in Tennis, 6-1, 6-2. Although she also admitted there's no chance she'd win, much less score a point against a top-ranked male. There's just such a large talent gap.

Hell, even 20 years ago my varsity baseball team scrimmaged the varsity softball team, and the coaches called it off after we went up like 15-0 without softball recording an out

Wouldn't even need to be a Top 10 nationally ranked team. The 10th best (6A) team in Houston or Dallas area would easily win.

Don't they all have those 6" long razor sharp nails these days? I can see that being a bit of a deterrent. I wouldn't want to mess with a squad of them at a certain time of the month since all of their periods are likely sync'd.

Even women vs women, puberty takes away a lot of the athletic ability of young women

World #1 Sabalenka lost to Kyrgios this year. Kyrgios hadn't played a competitive match in 3 years and he was forced to play on a narrower court than her to give her an advantage.

She still soundly lost and I would argue he wasn't going 100%.

I understand not enjoying women's sports for whatever reason, but why knock it so hard? If you don't like it, don't watch it. I've watched one WNBA game in my life. But I've also only watched two NBA games in the past thirty years. But I don't begrudge anyone else for enjoying basketball.

I really don't care. I just laugh at it because it sucks so hard and it's another example where people try to tell us it's equal to men's sports when it's not. A lot of people turned on it when the women and their allies started crying about equal pay when no one watches them. And then a few of them actually claim they are as good as men.

It greatly amuses me that the NBA is politically stuck funding the WNBA forever. Wouldn't have existed otherwise.

I was actually a pretty big Women's National Team fan (soccer) before the militant lesbian joined the squad and ruined it for everyone. No surprise her wife just divorced her.

I still enjoy watching the USWNT. I started watching them with my daughter when she started played soccer and got hooked. It's definitely a different game than what the men play, but I still enjoy it. And Megan Rapinoe never bothered me. She was a great soccer player. Everything else was fluff.
