The readers added context is highly misleading and totally irrelevant.

The original tweet talked about upstream profits. That is essentially profits for the company makes on operations between the wellhead and the refinery.

The added context concern downstream profits. That is, profits made from operations between the refinery to the gas station.

Apples : Oranges

Higher crude prices boost upstream profits, but have little effect on downstream.

You would think the junior Senator from Texas to understand this.

When people are forced to travel for basic and lifesaving healthcare, they're not just paying for gas. It's hotels, childcare, time off work, ALL OF IT.

So if killing an unborn child is "lifesaving healthcare" why would they also need childcare (yeah, I realize they also probably have a few other welfare babies)

Taking off work? LOL, their "work" is taking government checks and posting on TikTok

Yikes. Unbelievably Orwellian to refer to abortion as "lifesaving healthcare". Disgusting.

These people have no shame.

The pro-aborts love their euphemisms: "right to choose", "reproductive rights", "bodily autonomy", and "healthcare".

I guess "the final solution to the unwanted pregnancy problem" was too obvious.

From "Abortion Access Front". I'm not going to dignify them with a link, but here's what one of their social media people wrote this morning:

Quote:

Are Gas Prices The New Abortion Ban??
Gas just hit $4+ a gallon this week and that means accessing abortion care now comes with more surge pricing. For folks living in states with strict abortion bans, abortion access ends up requiring HUNDREDS of miles of travel, and now the price at the pump is doing policy work 'n munching away at abortion access. We hate it here.

What Does This Mean For Healthcare?
Gas prices just became forced-birth core. When people are forced to travel for basic and lifesaving healthcare, they're not just paying for gas. It's hotels, childcare, time off work, ALL OF IT. This is where practical support funds swoop in: community groups covering rides, lodging, food, and gas so people can ACTUALLY get care.

NOW WHAT?
These inflated pumps are the latest op for abobo seekers and mutual aid. When gas prices go up, those funds get drained faster, trips get harder, and access shrinks. But sure, tell us again how gas has nothing to do with reproductive rights. Want to do something about it? Hit the link (REDACTED), find a fund, and make it rain love, support, and coin on them so they can keep doing what they do.

Yeah, that's totally Trump's motivation here.

"How can we keep women from traveling to blue states to get abortions?"
"Let's raise gas prices!"
"How?"
"Just hike the federal gas tax. Say we need the funds to fix some aging bridges."
"No way! The voters won't stand for that!"
"Hmm...then how about we start a war with an oil-rich country that we don't like, and blame them for the higher gas prices?"
"Yeah, sounds reasonable."
