Abbreviated version of Mamdani's post to keep the post compact:



Mamdani's latest argument for huge increases in NYC taxes is because of racial inequity. The median white household in NYC has $200,000 in assets. While the median black household is worth only $20,000.

1) Just a note. Average Head of household in NYC is 53 yrs old. Assuming working for 30 years and constant saving rates, it means whites averaged saving $175/month. And black households a whopping $18/month. The financial capital of the USA? No wonder we are doomed.

2) What Mamdani leaves out is that median black family with $20K in assets averages between $30,000 and $40,000 per year in extra services (Medicaid, Food Stamps, Housing, Senior Housing...). The white family is not eligible for a penny of it.

Personally, I would say that one of these head of households knows how to play the welfare game better than the other and leave it at that.

But I am willing to take Mamdani at face value and say it is blatant racism and it must end.

Even liberals are not that stupid, by and large they are simply evil.

Politics of envy may be an effective approach to winning elections in a "democracy" but it has never and will never create wealth or improve outcomes.

The outcome is always a very small class of elites and a mass of underclass. Very little middle class and almost no chance to improve your own financial realities.

Yep, lack of the father in the home, lack of focus on education, lack of demanding their folks don't commit crime, lack of demanding people speak properly, and so many other things contribute to the differences in income and wealth. It is a cultural thing. Sadly, culture cannot be significantly changed, ever.

What was the gap in 1963?

Dismantle the welfare system, get people back to work instead of having babies before they can support them, watch black families become nuclear families, within one generation that gap will close significantly.

This. I'm absolutely fine supporting a basic food and mass shelter safety net, ie, we can offer some very basic food staples to keep people healthy and warehouse type housing to keep them safe from the weather. But just funding a lifestyle is insane. You don't get a snap card for the grocery store; you go wait in line for your govt beans, rice, and cheese, and maybe a vitamin supplement. Incentivizing more kids by mothers who can't afford the ones they have is insane.

Nobody starving. Nobody dying in the elements. But are you going to be uncomfortable and want something better? Damn straight.

Thanks for posting this, it shows just how radical so much of the Democrat party has become and without stopping them these ideas will further permeate the ranks and become reality, even at the federal level if the radicals get more control.

This is then a friendly reminder that Albany would have to approve anything like this for NYC and currently there is no appetite for passing something like this.

I always find it funny how the socialists always eclude other races.

Out of all countries the US has done the most in social programs and handouts, yet we are the only country with this gap. Just goes to show, the Great Society was a complete failure. Now their next trick is to target the successful which will just throw gasoline on the fire.
