Who do you see driving most the taxis in NYC? That's why Mamdani is doing this.

I wonder how they (flat earthers) felt watching artemis launch on April fools day.

I see a half dozen or more Waymo's daily on the north side of Austin. Have t seen one glitch yet. I've seen 2 or 3 stacked up at the same intersection before. They must have a hub or center near where I work.

They protested the "horseless carriage" in the same city....you can find the newspaper articles.

They are every where in Austin, especially on the road they are testing the Tesla taxis.....about 300 Tesla's in a parking lot where they are working on that project. Its robot car free market competition for real right now.

They creep me out. I also saw one almost hit a homeless guy downtown who was jaywalking. It was impressive to see it slam on the the brakes in the middle of the intersection, but I don't think it could have avoided a collision if there was anything else that could have caused one at the same time.

A normal driver would have just slowly pulled through as the person finished walking, but the waymo had to slam on the brakes.

So the Waymo didn't hit the guy, but you don't like how it didn't hit the guy? Interesting.

Sounds like my wife critiquing my driving.

There is only one proper response.

Bottom line is liberals abhor the free market and anything they can't control (and profit from) through regulation or unionization that indirectly fills their coffers.

And yet they utilize that system every day to benefit themselves down to what they eat, wear and use.

Saw on Austin news last week where I think a Waymo murdered a Duck crossing the road.

Waymos are dangerous. I wouldn't trust them. I see them all the time doing crazy stuff...and I read an article that says they sometimes blow by school busses with their stop signs out.

People are much more dangerous

Not always. I was driving down a 2 lane neighborhood road and a waymo was coming the opposite way. Cars lined both sides of the road next to their houses. The waymo took off coming at my car without even assessing whether there was enough room for both cars (there wasn't). A normal person would have waited for me to go down the road first...I was closer to the section that was pinched. The waymo acted as if I wasnt there.

Elon's Teslas are way (mo) better at this stuffl.

Exactly my view. You've really got to see these things in action to see how often they do really stupid things that even a "student driver" would have no trouble figuring out.

Not true. Very safe. Multitudes safer than human drivers.

Mamdani's snow shoveling program has been killed by global warming. He must restore the greatness of NYC with overpriced cabs driven by stinky men who don't speak English

Well, I mean are you talking about a random ******* on 35 or an uber driver, from a passenger perspective?

I wouldn't imagine that bad drivers could work for ride-share for very long.

Ridden in a bunch of Waymo's, much prefer them to people driven cars. My only complaint is that they drive to slow and slow down to school zone speed even when school is well out.

I've ridden in them plenty. No issues.

No issues with Uber either other than smelly cars.

Either way, Waymo is still safer than Uber in general

Mamdani would've outlawed the motor vehicle to keep the horse and buggy union happy.

I flew into Miami last Wednesday and was surprised by the Waymo version of a wheelchair. Self-guided wheelchairs taking people to gates, and empty wheelchairs heading out to gates, or back to pick up new passengers. It is a logical extension of self-driving technology, but it really surprised me.

It actually tracks with anti-capitalist ideology. One of the effects of capitalism is the efficiency of markets, as plainly evidenced by technological advancement. If it saves labor, then that is the enemy of the socialist/communist, because that is where their power is derived from. Advancement great enough to cause market shifts is resisted by those whose ideology actually works to permanently enshrine the present.

The other rule of thumb is that if someone is successful and making money politicians and governments want some of it. So, the first step is to throw up roadblocks that only the political factions can clear. For a price of course. Whether that is fees, taxes, tariffs, campaign contributions, political support, board seats, or jobs for friends and family depends on a lot of other variables.
