Bad or good, if you don't have middle management you won't get senior management. How do you build a career path around AI?

Short sightedness for returns.

His point is those middle layers aren't needed if you have a better system for communication. Career path is about pay and responsibility. A do nothing
Senior director that spends all day on conference calls shouldn't be needed nor should it be an aspiration.

Interesting take - why replace a level of people mangers / leaders and expect that AI can handle thermostat arguments, late arrivals, passive aggressive behavior, election days, FMLA, they infinite grey areas in corporate policy, etc.
Top that off with eliminating an entire generation of future experienced leaders, don't see it happening. I do wonder what the value add for a low margin high volume CFO would be. It's all about inputs, and implementation by those pesky middle managers.

AI doesn't take vacation. AI doesn't care about getting promoted or growing its empire. AI doesn't ask for accommodations or have to leave early to pick up kids from school.

Not yet.

Dorsey is your typical "genius" with no common sense (personal knowledge here). He over staffed Twitter and Square by 40% because he wasn't "work flow/process" oriented to see how things work together. Take what this dude says with a HUGE grain of salt.

May God have mercy on the poor souls who now are directly fed the inane drivel, what if we did.... , and "thought exercises," of senior management.

The only solace is by eliminating middle management these "geniuses" will get a quick reminder why they paid them in the first place. Because just dealing with first line employees and their personal **** that they can't leave at home is a full time job, and that's before most even get to the actual oversight and supervision of the work. The good middle managers can even translate their executive's latest attempt to regurgitate Harvard Business Reviews insights into actionable effort.

May the rest of Jack Dorsey's career be filled dealing with PTO requests, expense reports, stories about Janet's cats, Jim's medications, Susan's grandkids, and why fish and south asian leftovers can not be reheated for lunch in the microwave.

He's a left winged atheist. Most dangerous subgroup on the planet. Even moreso given he's a self-worshiping narcissist with a god-complex.

Maybe, or maybe not. There are things AI will never replace. And things AI can replace. Eventually the AI craze will settle down and folks will realize that it is just a tool, the way an iPhone is a tool, etc. Tasks can be changed but humans cannot be replaced.

Tell that to the thousands who have lost their jobs. Many times they can be replaced and we are only now scratching the surface on that.

Personally, I hated this man until he got convinced to accept Elon Musk's offer to buy Twitter. Once that happened, we saved the republic by allowing free(r) speech than what Dorsey and other "betters' were controlling.

Jack Dorsey, almost by himself, destroyed the socialists' control on the US social media platforms they had.

Way to go, Jack. One day, more unhinged leftists will probably kangaroo-court his ass.

If you mean humans can be completely replaced by AI for everything, then this is true.
But AI can and is absolutely replacing human jobs.

I mean that AI will replace some human jobs. But it won't replace humans that do human things. The jobs AI is replacing will not come back. AI is just a tool, not a person. It will make tasks much more efficient.

There are so many useless women who are hired for DEI purposes. Companies are so afraid of women's groups that they hire x% women just for show even if they do nothing. I have worked with many such people. Not all of course, but more compared to males.

However, how will the CEO continue to look good at the cost of the company if he throws out these women? They will come up with something else to continue their simping.

You make the mistake of thinking long term. You are too intelligent to be a CEO.

That is why you and I are not CEOs. We think too far ahead.

An economic reckoning. That's why you see many tech bros and left wing economists push UBI and UHC hand in hand with AI adoption as the solution for this. We obviously can't afford to do that.

And then you have the extreme take by Elon that money becomes wholly irrelevant anyway because AI and robots somehow solve scarcity.

So, we better hope Elon is correct. I just don't think he is.

Always blaming others for problems. Start a manufacturing company, start a high tech company, and show the world how it should be done! Since they are in the wrong, you should be able to make a bundle doing things your way.

That's why Elon and these ultra rich clowns are claiming there will be "universal income". So... he is a socialist??

I am amazed at the number of people who lap up every word that comes out of the mouths of these super duper rich guys. They change rules and positions as they please, as long as they make money.

Intelligence is not the problem and not lacking in most CEO's. There has been a study of the background and character traits of highly successful people. It turns out their upbringing, personalities and character traits are as varied as the average person, with only one common distinguishing characteristic. The only common trait all highly successful people share is their ability to be extremely convincing liars. Prepare accordingly.
