House is basically lost. I think it will be close though, neither side will have a huge majority, whoever wins it.

For the Dems to get the senate they would have to sweep Ohio, Alaska, Maine and North Carolina

Along with holding Michigan, NH and Georgia

Good luck with that. I just do not see Rs losing the senate right now.

North Carolina will be a Democrat pickup.

Ohio is questionable due to the governor's race being a drag on Republicans. Vivek is going to lose badly.

The Democrat is consistently polling 5+ in Alaska.

Maine is a tossup like always.

They will hold Michigan. New Hampshire and Georgia are tossups.

Texas is a wild card.

We'll know more when all of the primaries are over.

Checks date, notes elections are 7 months away, determines this must be April Fools banter.

Any body making such bold claims in early spring how the public will vote in the fall is pissing upwind.

Have some faith folks.

The silver lining is that if Dems get back in, they can double down on woke mind virus insanity, and lose power all over again.

Trump will lose the midterms.

The war and market meltdown won't help. He needs to enthuse the base somehow. Dallas is still crawling with scammers.

I think that whether we want to admit or not, but doing away w ACA subsidies is going to be one of the topics that bite the Republicans. I know: subsidies bad, but believe or not, many small businesses or 1099 employees are struggling with healthcare costs this year. Not many options out there besides ACA plans. It's a screwed-up industry.

Voters are largely uninformed and stupid. Yes, Trump has been a mixed bag at this point with success in areas and failure to this point in some areas and Rs in Congress are weak kneed when in power, but people believing that Democrats have the answers are woefully stupid and irredeemable.

Republicans are living in a false reality right now. The other side is highly motivated and internally you have beat down your base.
When things have been 50/50 you can't lose any of your base and no independents. It would not be surprising that both the house and senate are flipped. Then it will be a historical circus at that point.

republicans will almost assuredly lose the house and possibly even the senate. this isn't just typical mid-term backlash, trump has fumbled the bag more spectacularly than anyone could have expected. epstein, tariffs, war, affordability, corruption, the list goes on. trump's approval with independents is reaching watergate nixon and second term bush lows.

the only silver lining right now is that everyone hates democrats too, including democrats

ripped from the headlines...

if the Dems win control of both the house and the senate...

they will halt or slow down NASA funding to make sure the moon landing does not take place in 2028 (as currently scheduled) while Trump is in office

delay it to 2029 or 2030

Impacts of losing midterms:

For people with their nose buried in the news and hand wringing over every detail of politics: depression, stress induced increase in blood pressure, angry F16 posting.

For everyone that lives life and owns a businesses: Nothing. We go about our day because politics really don't impact us in a way that alters our life.

Hallelujah. I was fascinated with the political process until about halfway through college. I worked in DC a couple of summers I did all the "policy" stuff. I've testified in front of state committees. I've lobbied. I've done it.

And I learned the market changes behavior way faster. I started my business in 2022. Fuel prices were high (I run my business out of my truck) and lots of uncertainty politically everywhere. Didn't matter. We had a good plan. We took care of our customers. And we have food in the fridge and the light bill is paid. I think we are doing just fine.

Tell that to the people that lost their business due to the ACA or because they were shut down during Covid.

Or to families that have been devastated because a DA or a judge didn't keep a violent criminal behind bars.

And "local bible study group reaches 67% unemployment; Rs cede all control to Dems who will fix it" is probably not a winning headline. But they "deserve it" because 4 of 6 random bible thumpers had to refresh their resume?

Bizarre anecdote is... bizarre.

I have thrown in the towel on fiscal policy...but I disagree with the notion that politics does not impact our lives. Biden and Kamala let in 10+ MILLION unvetted third world immigrants. I would argue that that PERMANENTLY changed us...and you can look at certain countries in Western Europe as case studies to how things will go if we continue to give the left too much power. These aren't your uncle's democrats anymore.

You're also less likely to face tyrannical mandates like "get the experimental "vaccine" or lose your job" if democrats are not in power.

I think I heard that London is now like 33% English. Whatever the number is...the national and cultural decay in numerous Western countries is SOLELY attributed to progressive policies. And it's shocking how fast it has happened.

IT DOES MATTER. But I think we are f***ed. Boomers are going to die off and we are headed for an unrecognizable dystopia.

In Trumps first term, there were a lot of pro economy structural changes - tarriffs agains China, reduction in corporate taxation, easing of the tax code. They had an obvious impact on the economy.

In this term, I can't identify anything other than going after H1s, which is reactionary. Rs in Congress have been absolutely worthless

We are all Republican and will vote that way, but this is a disaster from the Independents perspective.

Lots of business tax breaks were included or reupped in the OBBB.

I literally do not know a single person who has lost a job in the past 18 months (really several years).

Whilst I have compassion for your job loss and search and wish you gents the best, news of any widespread economic collapse in the United States is grossly overstated.

But if people wanted to see an economic collapse? Iran landing a ballistic missile through the top of Harrods would probably tank the markets pretty good and have us on our heels cobbling together an actual forever war response.

Trump is doing the right things, the hard things. Even the issues popping up are not serious and minor compared to other international skirmishes.

We are all good, most of us are pretty successful, and importantly, very blessed.
But i do think you are very wrong here. I dont know what industry you are in , but there's quite a few that are getting hammered. Tech is a big one, getting absolutely decimated unless you work directly related to AI.

There are two problems - an increasing number of people out of work, and it is going to accelerate because of AI. The unemployment rate is also the highest its ever been for folks graduating - entry level jobs are falling.. The bigger problem is the lack of job mobility,.. I haven't met a single person happy in their job in the last 2 years or so.

Both of our information is anecdotal. Mid terms are a long time away. Lets see.

I have a construction business that works only with government contracts, we actually build things so DOGE did not impact. And I have a residential contractor business working for for sale home builders. The latter is just a hair slower but not much. Believe Trump is going to move housing affordability front and center once Iran is settled or on a clear path. If folks wanted to bet on another Trump admin ouster, Pulte would be on my radar.

Then through a broader set of friends across all sorts of jobs, locations and industries, I just don't see it. Maybe nobody likes to tell me their sad stories. Wish you and your boys the best, again.

I am not convinced that the next 6 months are going to be anything other than winning. I'd be prepared to take advantage of it.

I despise the democrats and what they intend to do to this country but I think shellacked is an understatement. The on the fence, undecided, truly independent segment of the electorate has been convinced to make a change. I think the only variable now is how huge the blue wave is. It's not really all Trump though. The republican party is an embarrassment of heartless, gutless, flaccid, disgusting grifters.

There are lots of things in that proposal that need to be hashed out.

The provision to force sale after 7 years is one of the most problematic (see, sometimes we can agree). Entitlement and platting issues have not been fully considered. Same for financing.

I have only discussed briefly the act with my friend who lobbies in this space.

I will see if there is a summary I can share.

Going to say something that will make "true conservatives" and die hard libertarians cringe… though some of the proposed stuff is well intentioned. And we have a need for housing RECONSTRUCTION as much if not more than new construction. CDBG is a good process for administering that, at least in Texas.
