Told yall. Our job scene is bleak. People fell for the fake numbers that were put out earlier. Now the reality will show up.

Stop H1B. Stop offshoring. Save America.

So these numbers are real and the previous ones were fake. OK. Why not keep faking it then?

AI is real and replacing human cognitive labor. You'll eventually figure that out.

All numbers are fake. Even this one. The real numbers are way way worse.

AI is real but AI is not (yet) stealing your job. That is fake and CEO-speak that many non-technical people swallow.

Truth. My buddy at shell right now is trying to get a perm position from a grad program. No joke, every "entry" spot hes applying to within it, hes competing against other employees with 15+ years of experience

Fixing is simple.
1. Stop H1B (or slow it drastically and don't renew). Trump is doing that and it will take time as our corps are drugged by cheap labor.
2. Tax outsourcing. You want to send jobs outside, you pay. US needs money to run and this infra does not pay for itself.

At this point jobs will stop leaving and our kids will be given entry level jobs, not Rajesh from Ckumbonampooram.

Agree. However, the people here (bootlicker boomers) will blast you as a "lib" for continually attacking CEOs, meanwhile those same people were able to build up their portfolio into what it was because they didn't have to deal with outsourcing. Pretty rich

Are you guys trying to pretend outsourcing is something new? Because I was in Delhi 20 years ago checking in our the well-established outsourcing operation the big global company I worked for had with Genpact.

Deloitte and other accounting firms sent massive amounts of their ops to India and other places... 20 years ago. Hell, when I started with them 25+ years ago probably 25% plus of your department where on H1-Bs from the Fiji Islands to india / Sri Lanka to Russia and Turkey.

When I left corp america 16+ years ago, the Texas retail electric provider I worked for had all call centers in S America and the Philippines.

And I am solid Gen X.

Me thinks some of you are just now encountering this concept because its affecting you currently. But none of the H1-B and outsourcing complaints is new.

Oh?
Oluwaseunfunmi Babajide from Nigeria will steal your job and he'll do a better job charging pennies to the dollar. And send 90% of his salary back to Nigeria.

The private equity companies buying up HVAC and other blue collar companies are doing just that actually, bringing them over and paying them rates that no one here would take

Examples?

Don't worry about those portfolios too much. Within 5 years we will see the largest haircut to the stock market in history, we just aren't sure exactly when it will happen yet. But we all know it's coming and coming hard.

It's not a one-off bad report, we've lost 19k jobs since April 2025 and people are having to work 2 jobs to support their families.

Many households have both spouses working, some with side jobs that don't amount to much. It is hard to pay for a larger house than your parents ever had and the property taxes and insurance that goes with it, two more or less new high dollar vehicles, and some combination of a boat, an RV, jet skis, side by side, pitching lessens and travel ball for Penelope and Junior, deer lease, eating out 2 or 3 nights a week, fast food for lunch, long commutes to work, day care so both parents can work, Door Dash, and such. Takes a lot of cash flow to pay for all those things.

we are now in year 3 of a bull market

would love to see someone post

how many times in American history there have been four straight years of a bull market.

Fake news. Companies are rolling out AI in finance, legal, accounting, IT, etc... That's why there has been slow down in hiring. Bury your head if you want.

They are not. It's just news to justify layoffs because clueless people will buy it to seem smart (look at Linkedin, it is full of such types).
Show me one proper case where we can go see what they actually did. Not CEO claims but reality.

If you can swing it, why not?

But you cannot as it isn't happening as of today. Only CEOs claim it because they can effectively hide their mismanagement.

Americans losing jobs by the tens of thousands daily, and US corps are hiring in India and elsewhere, and people are lying down on the streets trying to defend the billionaires. Wow.

This right here is wildly out of touch with what is happening.

People are searching for jobs. Full employment. Many are unemployed or underemployed.

This isn't about affording the extras. This is about people trying to afford rent, gas, and groceries. For a significant percentage, those extras are long gone.

An entire generation has been shut out of the house buying market. Average first time owner age has rocketed up to like 40.

Young adults working in college- they are being given fewer hours and even they are trying to juggle two part-time jobs just to stay afloat.

Adult kids are living with their parents.

The economy is a real mess and the *** is fixing to hit the fan as oil has now hit 103 a barrel. We are on the cusp of a true global conflict. This is a worldwide problem. Every country in the world has a vested interest in this now.

And this administration is making hype videos, pissing money away, and doing absolutely nothing but causing increasing prices while they play with their little green army men.

I'm far from a Trump supporter.

I'm not reading all of what you stated, but even if it was all true. STILL better than Biden/Harris. That's how bad our candidate pool has been.

By all indicators, except anecdotes and feelz - you know, data like GDP, UE rate, LFPR, median income, etc... - the economy is good! AI is gonna take jobs, and create some jobs, just the way it is.

Had Trump not fired 100s of thousands of government employees and continued to hire useless gov employees like Biden did, the jobs number would be good! Let me try to make it simple so you can understand. If I were to hire 100 people to dig ditches and fill them, dig them again, fill them up, repeat. That would look good on paper: 100 new jobs. But it's simply a waste of money.

Who? I was busy over the weekend.

I am a grizzled vet when it comes to online discussions - around 30 years. Nothing fazes me anymore. I am the last one to complain to a moderator. You want to discuss/argue on any issue go right ahead, that is what TA is for. I might accept defeat if you convince me but I don't bother the mods, they do a pretty good job themselves.

People get banned because they get personal with me and start insulting me. I never respond to them because I know they have no strong counter-arguments and hopefully they will see my point some day.

Stop self-righteous flexing here, if can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Just wanted to clarify that to you - now back to the topic.

Reminds me of the Milton Friedman story when he went to China: Friedman was once visiting China when he was shocked to see that, instead of modern tractors and earth movers, thousands of workers were toiling away building a canal with shovels. He asked his host, a government bureaucrat, why more machines weren't being used. The bureaucrat replied, "You don't understand. This is a jobs program." To which Milton responded, "Oh, I thought you were trying to build a canal. If it's jobs you want, you should give these workers spoons, not shovels!"

Told ya. CEOs today are laying off because they are out of ideas. Not because AI is making anything better. Now Jensen of NVIDIA is saying this.
