Anyone focusing on Asians was an idiot, this was always and explicitly about reducing whites. Now they have shifted to their real target, whites. It was always about whites, Asians were just collateral damage.

I wouldn't hire an Ivy League graduate to dig ditches right now. That is what I think an Ivy League degree is worth.

I dont think anyone 'made Asians the face of the Affirmative Action battle'. That's disingenuous, at best.

The entire point was to highlight why affirmative action is wrong. That goes for any 'face'.

If Harvard over-corrected (again), that's on them. Not those who pointed out they needed to make a correction in the first place.

Anytime you ever heard discrimination at Ivy Leagues mentioned in public it was always in reference to how Asians were treated. Now that it's only whites, just watch, it won't get a single damn mention anywhere in the political sphere.

Agreed. But I'm not sure I'd call them 'collateral damage'. They benefited in the end.

How do we know the Asians are not actually just that good compared to Whites.

Seems the portion of the freshman class admitted is now closer to the average performance on standardized test scores…. 1). Asian, 2). White, and 3). Hispanic and Black.

Yes. Take the win! Other institutions can't afford to continue to flout the law.

Now, continue to sue Harvard, and others until they finally comply, or go out of business.

By the law of averages and the bell curve, there are far more qualified whites at the top level than Asians just by virtue of the sheer population differences.

The vast majority of whites who go to that **** University are liberal whites.

I'm just fine with them getting screwed over.

I reached that conclusion a long time ago - these schools set a hard minimum % for blacks and hispanics and let the ever growing Asian cohort take their spots from whites only.

Other than PENN, Ivy League schools are private, capitalist pigs who prioritize profit over student welfare, environmental health, and social equity. They concentrate wealth and create systemic inequality which undermines democracy.

When college becomes essentially obsolete in the next 25 years this won't matter.

This.

Some Ivys have admitted that based 100% on apps their admits would be overwhelmingly Asian.

An Ivy League education that is not stem is already to be regarded as inferior, as it likely contains more politicized misinformation than a state university equivalent

I think the issue would be that based on SAT/act scores, the increase in Asians would have come at the expense of those groups other than Caucasians. There are still clearly non objective criterion being used to ensure that minority admissions are prioritized

To me, it seems the biggest problem with the Ivies is that stupid people have bought into the idea that their degrees are more about credentialism than education. The Ivies used to admit essentially two kinds of people: the very smart and the very connected. I remember quite a few studies coming out saying something to the effect of it didn't matter what your degree is in, as long as you have an Ivy League degree you were going to have better outcomes that people who didn't.

But that only goes so far. When you start admitting a bunch of people who aren't very smart and who aren't connected, then your university goes to hell. And that's exactly the direction of Ivies are headed.

Agreed

Ivys should just forego federal money and then do what they want. Harvard doesn't need any federal money.

I've come across a few engineers who later got an Ivy MBA, and they do well. BS in engineering, worked a few years then Ivy League MBA.

When I looked at the US News undergrad engineering rankings, I was surprised to see A&M with s higher ranked program than most of the Ivies. Many of the best stem schools are actually public.

the median asian college applicant is more qualified for elite colleges than the median white one. this is the meritocracy conservatives wanted playing out.
