I'm not being melodramatic, but the "far left" is simply the left now. AOC, Newsom, Bernie, Warren, Mamdani...are party leaders because they are the most popular with MOST Dems. Obama created this Frankenstein and it won't obey its old master anymore. The party isn't hostage to its radical base, it has become its radical base. Moderate Dems are now the fringe as the woke mind virus has reached saturation.

Depends on how you look at it, the corporate dems are already more moderate than the progressive left would like them to be and it seems like these days, anyone who is ever so slightly to the left or right of center gets painted as a fringe radical by their opposition. It's a frustrating time to be in the middle with how polarized everything is right now.
