Birth tourism has been a thing for a long time. Wealthy women view it as a status thing to secure their child dual citizenship. They come from all of the world in order to do that.

But just because their child is born in the US does not mean they get any special treatment. Parents are routinely deported with their children that are born in the US.

This.

This happens all the time. There is a tourism industry built around it. The Chinese are some of the worst offenders.

Glad you settled that then, theyll go back to their third world country

I didn't settle it. It is the law.

You should know without me telling you it is the law since you love deporting people so much.

It's not the law. The 14th amendment can be interpreted both ways depending on how you read "subject to the jurisdiction thereof". I don't believe a baby born to citizens of another country here on a visa is subject to the jurisdiction of the United States

Exactly. The intention was to give the children of slaves citizenship. It was not intended for everyone in the world.

Hold them in the terminal and send in ICE to arrest the baby at birth for fun.

I am very much against anchor babies. However. sometimes it turns out positive. I use a computer technician who is exceptionally talented in his field. He is Somali. His parents were on a HB1 visa when he was born. They went back to Somali to live. When Mohamad turned 21 he decided to try life in the USA and he brought his computer skills with him. He has been here about five years and has made many non-Somali friends is accepted well.. He is very friendly and polite . There may not be many success stories like this, but he is an exception.

Not many have a problem with this, do it legally through the system. But he should not be considered a citizen just because he was born here while his parents were on temp visas.

And that's not racist despite what our resident Karen's says.

I'm also against anchor babies and this person should have no status in the US. Hopefully stories like his will be eliminated moving forward.

How many children of members of the CCP were born exploiting our current birth tourism loophole in the US, have US citizenship, will grow up in China as fully indoctrinated future leaders, and then will have access to the US as citizens will all those privileges?

Wealthy Asians do like having children with dual citizenship and dual passports. It is a status thing.

Birth Tourism is a thing.

Sure, but that doesn't mean it should continue to be "a thing".

Happens all the time. Get on a flight from LAX or SFO back to China, HK, Taiwan, Singapore. A fourth of the plane is newborns and their mothers going back home to Chyna. Frustrating isnt close to what I feel when I see it.

About 15 years ago I was stuck at ERW trying to get to MIA. A very pregnant lady from Africa was on the same flight. She told me she was from West Africa. I think she gave birth in the airport somewhere.
