Cory Booker when for 25+ hours last year in a stunt filibuster speech, so multiply that across however many Dem senators wish to grandstand and it could easily be a multi-day session which requires all senators to remain near the chamber for when interim votes come up.

That's really the only reason senators are hesitant to bring it up - it requires multiple days of staying on Capitol Hill and the lazy SOB's don't want to be inconvenienced.
This is how the filibuster worked until 1972. Killing the silent filibuster has to happen. Oh, sure, they'll go back to reading the DC phone book or some other ridiculous time wasting nonsense while wearing adult diapers. They can't keep it up forever. Make 'em stew in their own Depends.

uniparty wins again. Been waiting on the senate a year you vag.

There's the weak ass, spineless Republican party we've all come to know and love.

They just don't know how to win. They have no concept of how to wield power.

The Democrats wouldn't hesitate to go nuclear and get their agenda passed.

Same uniparty nonsense as the last boss.

The range of outcomes from the GOP benefits vs the Dems detriments get narrower each day. And it's all because the GOP moves left or is inactive.

CNN had a poll today. 71% of Democrats want photo ID required to vote. Dem leaders don't want it because they want to cheat.

I work with 5 Libertarian/ Independent types that want Voter ID/ proof of Citizenship also...I think it's really popular now because everyone is tired of hearing about fraud in every election.

I hope Tulsi/ the FBI find a whole bunch of crap related to the machines in Georgia then spread it all over the nationwide news and force congress to act. Even go to another state like Arizona or Michigan and seize records from a recent national election and hopefully find the same bad stuff with the machines. That's probably the only way Congress is going to act, show that the fraud is so blatant and widespread, and get all the voters so pissed that their are constant public outcries..

Don't state's control their elections? How would the fed saying "Must show ID to vote" impact any state's current law?

And why is this so hard or 'illegal' in some states? I have to show an ID to vote in my state.

Article I, Section 4, Clause 1:
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

The states run the elections, but Congress can pass laws that provide regulations for federal elections.

Yes, states currently control this. Some states you only have to be registered, show up and sign by your name and they "check" your signature against the registry.

Other states you must show ID or have another approved method like an affidavit (Texas is one of these).

Others you must show a state approved picture ID (I believe Arkansas is one of those).

It seems the SAVE act would require voter ID by federal law. Even if this passes through congress and is signed into law, it will be challenged in court. Supreme Court... Not going to be resolved any time soon.

I am 50ish and can remember showing my ID at every election since I was 18 (Texas). I also can't ever remember seeing anyone showing an affidavit at the polling place while I was there, always photo IDs. Im sure it happens though. This is only an issue in a select group of states. Take a wild guess which ones.

I think the law is written in a way that a constitutional challenge would be a long-shot, given what the constitution says about Congress passing regulations on federal elections.

I pray that they put some teeth in it. States that don't comply or have evidence brought against them lose all federal funding for 2 years and the vote must be thrown out and redone.

Most of the old guard GOP are uniparty hacks. They align closer to AOC and Ilhan Omar than to the MAGA base.

And are acting like it.

They'll wait until after Midterms when the DEMs control the House or the Senate or Both, and then the DEMs will ask for something really big and corrupt to pass it. They'll probably want amnesty and a path to Citizenship for all their good non law breaking illegals...They'll put some punishments in it for violating it, but you can bet they will want something big in return..

This would be one of the biggest pieces of legislation in a long time. Making citizenship and ID required to vote is the dems nightmare. They will fight this with everything they've got.

The thing is, we can pass this law and make it the law of the land, but blue States will just simply ignore it.

They will continue with their voter role shenanigans and fraudulent counting processes because they know that Republicans will never do anything about it, law or no law.

Republicans are too afraid of being called a name, like "eLEcTiOn dENieR!!!"

It'll give the feds more authority to go in and make sure it's done correctly rather than be at the mercy of the states.

Here's another video of a black man showing his ID to vote n a US election.

I assume it was the white half of his brain that allowed him to overcome the racial divide to obtain an ID and engage in suffrage.

And that tells you all you need to know about representation. You often see/hear conservatives saying liberals care more about criminals than they do the majority. They don't. They represent themselves and only legislate efforts to solidify power. With the overwhelming support for voter ID, this should be a slam dunk.

Starting to wonder if they go through with the full 'talking filibuster' maneuver and it's expected that will take up several weeks worth of floor time, if they don't go ahead and package together all of the executive orders to-date along with other priority items and pass it as a big omnibus.

Pence has continued to be such a disappointment. Makes one question how much he individually worked to undermine Trump 1.0.

Kudos to OAN for using a still shot of Pence with the fly on his head!

One of the poorest and most corrupt countries in the world has no problem instituting voter ID cards, but the only one to put a man on the moon can't because democrats cant win without cheating. Pathetic.

Agree. I should have known when that harsecrap about how he will not have lunch alone with a female colleague cause it dishonors his wife, but all the disgusting stuff to undermine his boss and he said… nothing.

I know the type. Their "faith" is strong, but their morality is extremely weak. It's fake, facade, fugazi.

But F him for being against this. Also explains the state legislature up there declining to redraw congressional district maps like Trump wants. He still runs the show in that state and he's clearly a deep state uniparty ****

So:

Pence has trouble interpreting the Elections Clause of the Constitution, but thinks he is enough of an expert on the mess of the Electoral Count Act that he could definitively conclude that accepting the state challenges to the 2020 elections was illegal?

Pence has zero intellectual integrity. This, more than anything else he has ever done, erases any amount of benefit of the doubt I have previously given him.

Republicans know how to win

They choose not to

That's the difference. And it's why MAGA took off. Trump shows up, disrupts, and immediately forces change. But the worthless Washington Generals stab him in the back because it's all about the uniparty.

They disgust me more than anything. Traitors
