Apparently they are going to pull out some funding. This funding bill is full of a bunch of crap and I would rather shutdown again then fund some of the things in it.

Republicans better not back off of immigration enforcement. Any backing up is a failure that will embolden the continued illegal interference

I think Dems are realizing most Americans won't stand for a shutdown to protect illegal immigrants. They need some kind of meaningless victory to give the crazies though and that's what they're negotiating.

So how are ICE agents going to get paid?

They were funded in the BBB (until 2029 I think). That's what is so stupid about this.

There was some straight up garbage in that bill. Millions in funding for trans surgeries for children. $5 billion in welfare for "refugees". There was DEI crap and money in there for leftist NGO's. The republicans helped pass said garbage. I was hoping the Senate would reject it and force the republicans in the house to put something else together.

Was this the one that had driver monitoring and a form of either kill switch or means of not letting people operate the vehicle?

There was an amendment to drop that requirement(on all vehicles manufactured from 2027 on) from a Biden era bill(that was where it originally came from). I think it was Massie that brought the amendment forward to try and get rid of the requirement. It didn't pass. Quite a few republicans voted against it.

I wish they could get back to single or double page bills that address one topic only. We will never get well with this farce. Too much swamp water.

Right regarding the House bill, but OP says the WH and Senate reached a deal. Is this deal agreeing with what the House sent or did the WH/Senate deal pull that House driver boondoggle out of it and it is going back to the House?

I don't know. There was a lot of garbage in the house bill, so hopefully this was just the WH/Senate agreeing that DHS funding will be separate from any omnibus bill brought forward. If that is the case, I hope that the Senate will vote down that crap house bill.
Who?mikejones!
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No, its a deal with dem senators.

The house would need to vote it through, but, i presume dem house members would probably go for it, making the Republicans irrelevant for the most part.

Which is normal for Republicans in congress anyway

My understanding is that they'll continue funding DHS at the same level but the additional funding DHS sought will be debated pushed two weeks for debate.

So OBBB had ~$75 billion (funding through 2028 into 2029 I believe) and the Dems got the additional $10 billion in this bill removed? And nothing else? That would be a big L for the Dems. Even bigger L if they had pushed to a shutdown.

Massie should have let someone else bring the amendment forward. No way he is going to get anything passed now that he's burned every bridge there is.

Massie has not been helping things. Neither has Rand Paul for that matter.

Darn, I was hoping they'd shutdown and stop ****ing everything up. Bunch of grifters on both sides.

Yeah. It appears to me that President Trump agreed to avoid a shutdown just to give Dems optics with a two-week block on the extra funding. Schumer gave up all leverage he thought he had.

What you are referring to was passed in the Infrastructure Bill when Biden was POTUS. It's already law. Massie was trying to get an amendment in with this current legislation to offset the law already on the books.

His attempt failed. There are several ticking time bombs in Biden era legislation that we will continue to trip over like this one. 1984 lag will continue to become reality for all of us.

Here are the Texas Republicans that voted with Democrats on several amendments.

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-TX-1)
Rep. Jake Ellzey (R-TX-6)

So as of this morning we are at a mini-shutdown until Mike Johnson can get off the red carpet Melania premier and back to work some time on Monday.

Hakeem still thinks he has cards to play, but he is epically dumb. Appears bodycams will be funded / required though I doubt any masking policy is allowed. That idea is about as dumb as Hakeem.

Libs have no moral ground to require demasking. They have shown time and again they will dox, encourage protest, and take zero possibility for the results of protesting peoples homes, schools, businesses. So **** off on the demasking horse****nannery.

Moral ground or no, demasking would be the worst thing possible. That cannot be allowed to happen, full stop.

I say this because I've seen posts online where AI is able to get the full face of an agent, even with a mask, when the agent has their mask on so tight you can make out pretty much what their face looks like already. AI just fills in the dots, and voila, there he or she is, and it doesn't take long for a hacker to find the person and make their lives a literal hell.

This is all political theater, of course, but as far as the masking goes, that's a matter of life and death.

They would have to go back and change the law, but in the interim they will continue the lawfare and getting beat down at SCOTUS.

I know. I've just lost track of where that is in these negotiations. I'm expecting the R's to fold on it.
