I know I am younger than most of this board. But I am old enough to have seen the GOP sell out like at least 3 or 4 times every 4 year cycle for the last 20 years. So, when the midterms roll around later this year, and you all are shilling the GOP HARD (like always), I probably will not join that nonsense.

What a disgrace. The worst part is that they have a POTUS who actually enjoys taking the heat shielding them, and they're still do nothing cowards.

As much as I loathed Barack and despised Biden with the fury of 1000 suns, one thing I have always said is that the biggest problem with our federal government is CONGRESS, not whomever happens to be POTUS for 4-8 years.

POTUS is the least important vote you have at the federal level. I would guess 50% + of Americans can't tell you who their Senators are and 90%+ can't tell you who their Rep. is, that is the problem.

There can be no stronger proof of the above than this bill.

That is something we could actually fix, here in Texas, if conservative voters would grow some balls and actually vote out the moderates in the primaries.

I agree with how you feel on the subject, but what other power do we have? You can't blame the voters for the republicans stabbing them in the back, but why do we continue to vote for the same useless moderates in the primaries? Believe me, if there was another party with actual conservatives, I would vote for them.

The power you have is withholding your vote. IDK if you are 20 or 60 but clearly you don't get how GOP politics works. They say what you want to hear, then they take hundreds of thousands of dollars from special interests. You vote for them, because you liked what they said. But who do they work for after you vote them in?

Year after year this board wails and moans and gnashes their teeth about the GOP backstabbing them. And yet they never learn

The GOP did nothing. The GOP is in power RIGHT NOW and not doing anything about any of that. So it's not really a "gamble" at this point

The Dems don't play though, they want to change the rules so they will get permanent power and I'd rather not end up having to have a civil war to fix it. Trump is a pragmatist and chooses to fight for some issues and ignore others. The House and Senate Leadership if very weak. Yet it is far more likely we will see people going after Chip Roy or Thomas Massie or Rand Paul or Ted Cruz or Ron DeSantis instead of the RINOs that do this crap and that definitely includes Trump leading that charge.

Overall we are making slow progress but it's very frustrating our leaders like Johnson and Thune are so weak.

The reality is they are barely in power to be fair, having a tiny majority is very hard to govern with because you always have a portion that are useless. So unless the President has 55-60% Approval numbers or you have a solid 30-40 seat majority (or 60 in the Senate) it takes really effective leadership to get things done and you still have to pick your battles.
