Newsflash: It's not up to you to decide.

Never said it was, but as someone who believes salvation is relationship based, not transactional, it just sounds like purchasing fire insurance. I am not an expert on either his own soul nor am I the Ultimate Judge, so take it as just a cringing smile of a post.

Other than that, I loved his work and he said a lot of things that needed to be said. The world needed his perspective.

I would agree, and I'd also agree with the comment that it's for God to decide. This idea that we can slip it in at the last second a belief in Christ is lost on me. The person who does what he wants, when he wants, unencumbered by a belief in Christ and can be completely absolved as he professes a belief in Christ all while explaining he's hedging his bets right as he passes...is lost on me, but alas, it's not for us to decide.

Not familiar with anything about him other than his comic strip. Regardless, he passed way too soon. Sad.

I understand what you're saying about coming to Christ at the last second after living a sinful life just seems unfair. However, I would encourage you to read Matthew 20:1-16 the parable of the a workers in the vineyard.
Thankfully God shows us grace & mercy.

We had one perfect Christian and we hung him on a cross. We're all sinners and we all accept Jesus as our lord at some point. God bless his testimony and RIP.

Worked out for the thief on the cross next to Jesus, and that was pretty last minute too.

I do not necessarily disagree. But thought this applicable to this line of discussion:

20 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
2 He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 "About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing.

4 He told them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.'
5 So they went. "He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing.
6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, 'Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?'
7 "'Because no one has hired us,' they answered. "He said to them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard.'
8 "When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.'
9 "The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius.

10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius.
11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner.
12 'These who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, 'and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.'
13 "But he answered one of them, 'I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius?

14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you.
15 Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'
16 "So the last will be first, and the first will be last."
Matt 20:1-16

Huge loss. He was a major voice over the past several years in politics and culture. He was my daily podcast, learned a ton about life and persuasion through his insights. Definitely leaves a hole with his absence.

RIP Scott, and may you find rest in Heaven.

Hate to hear this. As a farmer, my life was not even in the same universe as engineer Dilbert. I still found his cartoons hilarious and relatable.

His trolling of the left the last few years was an added bonus.

I'm glad he found Peace through Christ.

It's not the timing. I have no problem with deathbed conversions and I am in no position to judge. I just hope it was genuine. I would love to talk with him in heaven.

You have never heard of Constantine the Great?

Yeah the old deathbed baptism! I imagine a halo'd umpire calling SAFE! while Satan comes out of the dugout to spit at his feet and belly bump him.

The thief on the cross did it. I don't know Scott's heart, but God does.

This sounds more about you than about Christ. This sounds like you're saying it's unfair that you had to live longer within the confines of Christ's commandments to Christians and he didn't.

Did not the thief on the cross repent in his last seconds?

There is nothing in scripture regarding timelines of when you can or can't accept Christ. You are not God. You don't know His plans for Scott Adams. If Scott had lived a life of vice and sin (I know nothing about his life), then truly came to be repentant of his live and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior even minutes before his death, that salvation is between him and Christ.

You're right, it's not up to you to decide, so why even comment? This is one of my major issues with so many Christians - the "I know the true way to salvation" crowd is really a turn-off.

How about, here's to a life well lived Mr. Adams. RIP. End of comment.

Is it really that hard?

Only God knows ultimately where Scott is right now. But why leave it to chance? Believers keeping silent when others may be missing the mark isn't really compassion.

Scott Adams was presented the Gospel and this was his response. We have an obligation to present the Gospel. We can not force someone to accept it. We can not save anyone. All of us are different. He is with the Lord.

Well, Jesus left no mystery when He said "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except by Me." That said, only Mr. Adams and God know how it turned out for him.
