Why was everyone stopped on the bridges?

I was watching the show on TV and wondered why traffic was stopped because you could see it from the fireworks camera

They're stopped to watch the fireworks. The fellas with the guns are taking advantage of the municipal fireworks going off to shoot a few rounds into the ground or water below the bridge.

Does the city of Dallas close them or just a bunch of people stopping?

I was down in the levees for this, and 815 feet away from where those bullets were landing when it first started (obviously I moved from the levee crest to to the dry-side slope to establish cover). No one could hear me yelling at them over the sound of someone else's stereo on full blast. One ricochet away from a very bad night.

I stopped counting the full-auto mag dumps that I heard between 10p and 1a. Some of that was on that I-30 bridge in the video, but most was in the neighborhoods within Oak Cliff. Plenty of it was small arms - Glocks with switches. But TONS of it was rifles. I'm guessing AR-types with either illegal lightning links or FRT's. It wasn't the staggered firing rate of slide-fire or beltloop operation. Didn't hear a full auto AK (that I could tell).

So the rednecks blow tannerite up and the ghetto go full auto.

Difference being, "rednecks" do it in their rural, country-ass areas.

These ****tards are doing it off a ****ing bridge, in the city.

People die in the country too but guess thats ok

If you think a residential neighborhood in town is "the country", you're way off base.

Look at their posting history.... they.him/her/it are usually way off base

Nothing is closed. This is all just Dallas "driver culture" behavior. One year they had motorcycle cops on patrol to keep people moving, but even that was ineffective by about 11:45pm.

When it first started out, people would make loops driving that area of the freeway to watch the fireworks while riding. Then so many people started doing it that it created its own traffic jam after 11pm (about a decade ago). Then people started parking on the shoulders, and the freeway parking quickly accumulated after that. One year begat another year, and it's incrementally worse every year.

The last few years, the freeway becomes a parking lot with only 1 lane in each direction actually supporting moving traffic. People bring grills and chairs, they launch their own petty little fireworks displays from the freeway. The shoulders of I-30 (both directions) with an unobstructed view of Reunion Tower were bumper-to-bumper parked cars about 9pm this year.

It's happened in Houston for years too, mainly for the 4th of July fireworks. Have to avoid the freeways that go Downtown that night.

But when I was a kid and we used to drive to see the fireworks, you mostly saw families pulling over on the shoulder for the kids to watch from the truck bed or whatever, and you could still drive on the main lanes. Didn't see big groups of men together, let alone cartel cowboys showing off their hardware.

It's a good thing to see, actually, that citizens can still get full auto weapons and discharge them safely within the city limits of a major metropolitan area.

Granted, the shooter in the foreground looked a little drunk, but it was New Year's Eve and hopefully he had a designated driver who took him home while his gun lay safely on his lap with the safety on.

This isn't just a problem on New Years Eve. It also is a problem every time the Cowboys win the Super Bowl.

Not charged for having machine guns. Where are the machine guns? Hell, shoestrings are considered machine guns by the ATF. Where are the real ones?

It looks like these stable geniuses had a friend who was recording them, and the police used it to identify and arrest them.

Illegal immigrants caught blasting guns on packed highway, shooting at family in road-rage attack: cops

A viral video showing gunmen firing from a Dallas bridge on New Year's has now led to multiple arrests and immigration holds as police say the suspects were involved in repeated acts of gun violence across North Texas.

Quote:

As the case expanded, investigators uncovered evidence linking 25-year-old Anderson Derce Lara to a separate road-rage shooting in November. Police say Derce Lara fired multiple rounds into a vehicle carrying three adults and three children, narrowly missing the victims.
