I can burn half a wheelbarrow full of wood on any given chilly night. That will last about 4 hours. I'm trying to figure out how much wood a wood bank would need to serve the wood needs of those who would need wood.

Well, a Wood Bank would bank as much wood as a Wood Bank could bank if a Wood Bank could bank wood.

The irony that in liberal enclaves like Cali and Commierado burning of wood in your home is mostly outlawed. Hell, in NYC and other areas you cannot heat nor cook with gas much less wood.

Pretty sure wood burning for cooking in NYC has to be grandfathered in for restaurants.

How does the Green left square this? On the one hand, they hate fossil fuel energy and would prefer us to live in primitive conditions but burning wood is a bigger polluter than FF. And what about deforestation if wood burning is done at a large scale?

Username checks out. Just tell them "green" burns clean and generates baby kittens as a byproduct. Libs won't care then.

I collected and gave away a relatively small amount of wood during snowmaggedon as well. I didn't have any firewood on hand before that event, and the collection was going into the creek bed behind my house with a chainsaw and collecting felled wood. Gave some of it away.

Learned my lesson. Now I have a lot of wood. Enough I could give away a bunch. But if the problem is hundreds (or even dozens) of households, forget about it, not enough wood.

Ever heard of a propane heater? You'd save a lot of space and money if you are really concerned about emergency heat. Won't rot away sitting in your garage either.

I already have one with lots of propane supply.

Come at me with a 3-wood, leave with no wood.
