The irony that in liberal enclaves like Cali and Commierado burning of wood in your home is mostly outlawed. Hell, in NYC and other areas you cannot heat nor cook with gas much less wood.

Pretty sure wood burning for cooking in NYC has to be grandfathered in for restaurants.

I collected and gave away a relatively small amount of wood during snowmaggedon as well. I didn't have any firewood on hand before that event, and the collection was going into the creek bed behind my house with a chainsaw and collecting felled wood. Gave some of it away.

Learned my lesson. Now I have a lot of wood. Enough I could give away a bunch. But if the problem is hundreds (or even dozens) of households, forget about it, not enough wood.

Ever heard of a propane heater? You'd save a lot of space and money if you are really concerned about emergency heat. Won't rot away sitting in your garage either.
