Trump's tune towards China has changed ever since Xiping and him met face to face.

China threatened something big enough to make Trump give in.

Let's Beijing, China. Send slightly altered chips.

Could have made NVIDIA go the Huawei route and forced them to back door all their products they're shipping to China. Easier to keep tabs on China's AI progress that way. Maybe they even went the mossad route and laced the chips with explosives.

I'm confident the situation isn't as black and white and some of yall want to make it.

And Trump cozying up to India so much as well.

So basically we give Argentina our tax money to compete with our own ranchers, and now Chyna our own tech to compete with US companies? Is that America first?

Not sure if wise.

But I will hold out hope that there are a few backdoors that can be used to our advantage.

AI is at the top of our national security interests. That means NVIDIA is going to comply with any and all US intelligence and security related matters. This was not done in a bubble, but probably set up to give the appearance as such.

Maybe President Trump is relying on his statement," U.S. Customers are already moving forward with their incredible, highly advanced Blackwell chips, and soon, Rubin, neither of which are part of this deal.". This may really come back to bit us in the ass.
Personally, I am opposed to sending China anything that may improve their miserable country run by a corrupt authoritarian regime.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”

Does China even give a **** about the H200? We're not giving them Blackwell.
Malachi Constant
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Blackwell and soon Feynman are generations ahead of the H200.

I'm hopeful this could actually have a negative effect on chinas ability to deploy. They get a few thousand H200s which is good for a compute cluster, but it could stifle China's development of their own chips, increasing US dominance.

I don't know how easy it is (it's probably impossible) to reverse engineer a GPU.

I really don't like this, but it could be more strategic under the surface.

Disagree on latter. Trump was looking to end the trade dispute because he realized his larger vision to isolate China from global supply chains was folly and impossible. This has been reported on in the more sophisticated corners of media. So, then it became what kind of trade deals can we make to deescalate and get back to par. So he got enough public agreements from Xi that allowed him to announce a trade deal. The problem is that we all know China lies and will ultimately adhere to nothing they agreed to do.

But Trump wanted a way out. And now this.

Terrible Trump and is a stain on his presidency. He's had a really bad 4 weeks or so.

Extremely disappointing.

Trump all but ensuring Democrat control of the House, Senate, and Presidency come January, 2029.

And this time, they won't give it up.

All he has to do is say it's for a good reason and MAGA will eat it up.
Until then, he's trolling/joking.

LOL at thinking that Chi-Nuh doesn't already have the designs for the Blackwell, and any/all other chips for now, and in the future.

This is dumb.

On one hand "China is ass-ho" and the other "Here, China, we're still buds, right?".

Extremely doubtful in my eyes. They are not going to stop their own research and production a single moment. If anything this is going to help bridge their gap in the interim.

That is what I think.

Entire new gen of chips just around the corner. Probably the next generation after that is already on the drawing board and will be coming out in 2-4 years.

China will have there own version of the H200 in 2-3 years. By then we will closing in on 2 generations ahead.

too many dummies can't realize that CHINA HAS MORE TO LOSE from this than the USA

would the USA be using technology made by Nazi Germany!?!?

but some dummies think the People's Liberation Army in China are going to use American made chips in their military!?!

it would be the exact same as Iran using centrifuges made in Israel!

There were no threats. Xiping probably just complimented him and told him how great he was and gave him a gift. That's the way to get basically whatever you want from this man…

Who knows, but it doesn't matter. You don't give an enemy, and that's what China is, things like this. It doesn't matter how much money they give us.

at least someone on here is thinking correctly!!

I don't see how anyone can believe that Rubio would allow something to go on that would STRENGTHEN the commies.

as said, these are OLD chips which are a generation behind what NVIDIA is giving to the USA military.

the USA military does not use Chinese technology any more- why would anyone believe that China's mililtary will use American technology GIVEN TO THEM rather than stolen by Beijing?

it literally is nonsensical.

This really feels like NVDA's running in to a wall of not having enough customers to support it's stock price and everyone's code red to prop that thing up.

That's all I have on why we talk so much about NVDA.
