Many states have lined up to regulate AI, and in response republicans have repeatedly tried to slip measures into "must pass" bills.

This has not been successful, now Trump is going to issue an executive order saying only the federal government will be able to regulate AI companies.

Be interesting to see what happens; I see some merit in both sides. US needs to win the AI contest. Right now, AI companies have too much power with no checks. Finally, the feds will screw everything up.

Ironically, some of those H1B and outsourced hires are likely working on just that.

MUCH better than it looks like for the losers, especially if the winner is a single party totalitarian state that then turns a far superior AI loose on undermining and destroying the digital infrastructure, public and private, of all of its opposition far faster than they can respond in defense.

Winning might suck, but losing could be that much worse.

Nothing in the Constitution gives the feds this authority

Crap list this usually gets allowed because of interstate commerce, and because communication lines cross state lines.

The most egregious stretch I've ever seen a court rule is that the guns manufactured in Montana that remain in Montana were still under fed control because their existence affected national markets.

Any arguments to the contrary aren't based upon the actual document but on bass-tardization via courts.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.
