We've all witnessed the downward spiral of the Ivys and it continues to get worse.

Lots of students now claiming disability. I wouldn't hire anyone from these woke, degenerate schools.

This status allows students:
-Exemptions from being called on by professors due to social anxiety
-Bring their mom to class
-Extend time on exams
-Access "distraction-free" environments
-Use otherwise-prohibited technology

Oh, good Lord. What a bunch of pansies.

Here's what they should do, daily:

-Wake up
-Stretch
-Drink a warm glass of suck-it-the-****-up
-Don't be a *****
-Shut the hell up
-WIN!

we've made the society too easy / kind to some people.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

From what I have seen - I think this trend is with other universities as well and not just the Ivy's. Parents are having their kids request "accomodations" and universities seem to encourage it.

Liberalism is a mental disorder, so I think they probably have a solid case. Numbers should probably be higher....

Ivy League schools have unlimited number of Q-drops. Flunk a major exam meaning the possibility of failing the course just drop it right before the mid-term. No big deal your parents or student loan will pay to take the course again and you get another shot at it.

Yep. Go look at the A&M sub on Reddit. So much "advice" about how to get exceptions from your professors to give you more time, different exam times, different deadlines, being able to resubmit, leniency for missing class, etc. All in the name of ADHD/Autism.

Guess what? I had unmedicated ADHD while at A&M and I still made it through without any exceptions from my professors.

I can attest to this. Undergrads these days in the arena of academia I'm in are making ridiculous demands under the guise of "accommodations." The fun part for me is that ADA reasonable accommodations are an area of my expertise, so I have helped some folks in the academic world navigate "reasonableness," but it's a never-ending onslaught of student demands.

In most cases, the students are simply full of **** and the situation is little more than they think they are special and should be treated as such. Some of the professors I've worked with have lamented how students are making it nearly impossible to teach effectively. Students are demanding the ability to dictate how exams are administered, bringing pets to class, total elimination of deadlines, and other crazy stuff.

At my previous university, I swear at least half the students were on some form of medication for mental or behavioral issues. The university office for disabilities was backed up a full six months on reviewing requests for accommodations.

In the past hundred years the Ivy education has lost its exclusivity. Its value was increasingly found in the connections. But they're working hard to discharge that value as well (replacing legacy with DEI).

Id wager that outside of their self aggrandizing circles, most of the country would rather work with a state school grad than an Ivy one.

"Bring your mom to class"

WOW!! What is their mommy going to do? This is very sad and pathetic for a college age student.

Will she go to work with them too? Imagine bringing your mom to a job interview! The SNL skits write itself.

They've been pampered their whole lives and have never really faced any adversity. They think "trying hard" should get them what they want instead of actual results. They've also been raised to think of themselves as victims.

I don't think they're going to do well in life.

Doesn't just happen at Ivy's. It happens at A&M as well; there are some insane accommodations the university allows students to have.

We knew a number of kids who got "diagnosed" with ADHD.
Allowed them extra time on the SATs, unlimited time on most school tests, and there is no mention of this on your final score or transcript.

You can bet a lot of Indian and Asian parents are taking advantage of this, even though all the kids we knew were white.

It wouldn't surprise me if a majority of those who got into the Ivy's used one of these tactics to get better scores.

Wow. Lol, wait until the nurse who got extra time on her tests, asks you to wait so she can check her notes.

My kid applied to some out of reach schools this year. Should have claimed a disability.

Disability seems to be the new DEI.

Whatever it takes to keep the money flowing and fluff the paychecks and benefits for all the overpaid 'workers'.

A massive percentage of the entire higher-ed industry is a scam and we are funding it one way or another, funding our own demise with the brain-washing that is their second goal.

What is "otherwise prohibited technology"?

You mean they can use a GD calculator, laptop, etc on exams when the rest have to be the old fashioned way????

Such nonsense.

Probably none are on visas. This sounds like privileged rich American nonsense. If I'm correctly remembering an article I read a year or two ago, things like depression and anxiety can be claimed as a disability to receive accommodations. Wouldn't be hard to fake either in order to get accommodations that make college easier.

I went the opposite route while in college. I'm not sure I even spoke with a professor until my very last semester and that was only because the department head was involved in finalizing and signing off on the required internship that was baked into my degree.

When I f'ed up, I just dealt with it because that's what adults do.
