While it is likely sudden jihad syndrome, any good law enforcement investigator will start by looking into all reasonable possibilities. At the same time, look into whether or not the guy had help or is affiliated with some kind of terrorist group.

I want him dead as well, and fast, and fine with it being public, though I would prefer something that took awhile and was terribly agonizing. Stop right before he dies, let him recover, and do it all again. But since that won't happen, I'd hope that wherever he is confined, the warden or person in charge would arrange for him to "commit suicide" (with the help of another inmate). If that doesn't happen, then locked away for ever, but not set free and deported back to the cesspool he came from.

Photos of National Guard troopers some "appear" to be carrying "side arms", but dang don't "group" up.
IMO they should have been issued M-4's, and batons with proper helmets and bullet proof vests!
