Quote:

A key Atlantic current could be pushed to the brink of collapse within decades, supposedly ushering in a new ice age and dramatically raising sea levels, climate scientists have claimed in a controversial new study published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment.
The apocalyptic predictions came as a result of a collaboration between researchers at the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) and the University of California, San Diego weeks after one-time climate alarmist Bill Gates publicly downplayed the impact of temperature fluctuations on the planet.

So, China wants justification for more coal plants?

Now I do remember there was a long anomaly cutting off the Gulf Stream currents affecting Europe in what have been termed the "Dark Ages" wherein Europe suffered much cold temperatures than normal. Indeed it was the reestablishment of that current that is widely accepted as spearing the Renaissance with better crop production with the warmer temps.

But again?

So melting glaciers = higher sea levels and new ice age = higher sea levels

I'm going to go burn a trash can full of diesel while I ponder this conundrum.

The solution is a giant rope that will be attached on each end to a mountain top. One in the US, one in Africa, then the two continents will be pulled closer together to counteract continental drift through plate tectonic action.

You see the source of the problem is Africa is just getting too far away for the system to work.

Glaciers can be...ahem..."unpredictable" I guess.

That sounds like a solid grant proposal for Montgomery Brewster

wait...new ice age and rising sea level????

Weren't the sea levels tremendously lower during the last glaciation?
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

A new ice age will lower sea levels, leading to a land bridge to Formosa that allows for any easy invasion.

This should only be attempted with spring.

It's almost like the climate changes all the time, and the planet can survive with a wide range of average temperatures. Who knew?

To install each rope end to a mountain, someone would have to climate.

The movie The day after tomorrow was about a new ice age suddenly occurring because the Gulf Stream collapsed

Whoever wrote the movie did a bit of research about what could trigger an ice age and somebody's research said theoretically this is how it could happen

Truth be told, because I did a little research after I posted, they apparently sold the Oahu house this summer to a longtime friend.

However they still own the Martha's Vineyard home

So...

Still not worried.

Wife was born in early 70's as a mid 80s baby, I remind her of her generation killing the ozone.

I also remind her of the age gap between us, just to twist the knife in deeper.

Annie, when you post those Time Magazine covers about the Coming Ice Age, I feel you're not helping the cause.

People will start to believe they're true. 1 cover was about the energy embargo by some Arab countries, one was about the brutal 1976/1977 winter, and the last cover was about the advantages of a wood burning stove after the Iranian Revolution reduced oil output and thus increased energy prices. The Penguin cover is a total fake well, the headline is actually "The Global Warming Survival Guide".

JMHO...

Interesting fact. The latitudes of Portland, Maine and Rome Italy are almost the same( 43.7 vs 41.9). Weather is completely different.
My theory is that there is now way these "climatologists" can factor in all the relevant data points. So to ensure funding for their "science" they continue to publish papers they know cannot be verified, justifying more funding.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”
