Israel is the trigger happy nation here? Hard to have less of an understanding of what's going on in that region than that statement implies.

Syria is more our mess than Israel's anyway. Obama and neocons insisted on bringing down Assad and ushering in instability.

We no longer have the same policy that we did under Obama and Biden where "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", all that did was create power vacuums and made things worse. As you have seen so far is the USA is letting local countries do the heavy lifting in Syria.

Joe Kent is the NCTC director and has been very adamant about not getting us into any more "endless wars". Joe Kent is a retired Green Beret and his wife Shannon Kent was killed in Syrian in 2019. He has said our support will be focused on helping locals deal with local issues which will minimize feet on the ground.

Syria is too strategically important for Russia and China for the USA to ignore it. That is not saying we need to have 10,000 troops on the ground but we do need to be assisting to keep China and Russia from destroying it like they have for the past 20 years.
