I have family in NYC, it's a New Yorker phenomenon that they always talk about leaving but never do. I think they will personally have to deal with ridiculous hardship in order ti pack up and move.

What more locally --- will many New Yorkers move from Albany to NYC, from other parts of the state? Or shun it?

I think the guy in the video is spot on but how will it be paid for is the bigger question? People with money and good jobs will largely move out except those libs with huge money that can pay the toll to live in what I believe is about to become a hellhole. It won't happen overnight but 3-4 yrs down the road the city will be a bankrupt hell hole and asking for even more federal and state help than they already get.

It all feels totally predictable.

I already have 35 family members that have moved to NYC in the same 5 story walk up, living in apartments starting with 600 and 700.

They are named:

Casper Mohammad Fraduman 1 through Casper Mohammad Fraudman 35.

Pretty sure I can find about 65 Casper Ivan Fraudman's before the end of the year.

Apparently lots of NYC residents are getting out of NYC and moving to Florida. That's more of a trend with hundreds of millions in home sales in FLA from folks moving from NYC.

NYC population set to skyrocket if rent control is expanded and free stuff gets handed out.

I saw stats on the numbers of million $ salary people (~34k) and the number of billionaires (123) who live in NYC, and the tax burden they bear...2% of the taxpayers pay +51% of city tax revenues. It might be a good time to invest in Long Island, NJ and Palm Beach real estate...and ditch any NYC rental property you might be dumb enough to still own.

They'll be sending up a bat signal for Snake Plisken before Mamdani can begin a second term.

Don't you expect they will eventually have to deal with ridiculous hardship unless they are so rich they can afford to insulate from it?

NYC produces nothing. It's all services, so it's all easy to move those jobs.

Wall Street used to require physical presence on the trading floor. That hasn't been the case for years.

There was a report a few years back where criminal gangs are living in Florida, where it's safe and crime is punished. They frequently travel to NYC to steal because of no cash bail and lenient sentences. They take the loot back to FL.

This is the plan.

Americans will move out; foreigners move in.

When the city fails, they will blame Trump and "big government" for not providing more money for support.

We moved from Houston to Connecticut and Dad worked as an oil company exec in NYC in late 1971. Fortunately, Dad worked in the Chrysler Building which was very close to Penn Central Station so he wasn't on the sidewalks for very long during his commute. The year before we moved up there, Jack Lemon and Sandy Dennis made a movie called The Out of Towners which although fictional, encompassed every peril someone could face in NYC at that time.

It was dirty, smelly, crime ridden and most New Yorkers were depressed and in bad moods because their lives were so stressful. It wasn't just the pace of life, it was the constant danger that stressed them out.

NYC was once a place that everyone wanted to visit (not live there) because it was a concrete jungle that was so different than where people lived. Now, other than foreigners and liberals, I can't think of anyone that would plan to visit there. They literally just closed the door to tourism and opened the door to crime.

The Big Beautiful raised the SALT exemption from $20,000 to $40,000 for those married, filing jointly, for 4 years. This will help shelter people in blue states IMO from the consequences of their voting. Not a fan.

Imagine being one of the people who spent millions on a high rise in one of the newer towers. Good luck unloading that without taking a loss. I would imagine it's been rough to be a landlord in Manhattan - whether office, retail or residential.
